• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I noticed a good number of the pro's wearing GoPro's and wondered what was done with the vids ...

Wow - my GoPro makes other bikes look much farther away than they are - these guys are going so fast so close :eek:
Really dig the Milsaps vid ... his pits yelling at him each time he goes by ... Canards enthusiasm even after just getting beat for the win :applause:
 
Canard is definitely a force in the chase. He's been off the bike for quite a while but seems to still have it. Seems pretty low key standing there for interviews.
 
These guys make it look so easy. Cool videos. I missed it the other night so I was just checking out Vital MX for the update.

Totally pumped about Canard's comeback! He's lucky to be walking and, with the exception of a couple of bobbles, he was looking as fast and as fluid as ever. I've been telling people he was gonna come back and have a good showing - he's Superman!!!:notworthy:

I saw the Millsaps vid on Vurbmoto - gnarly**************************************** If you weren't there, you should have been in the crowd at A1. People were into the Millsaps/Canard fight - sound had feel!!!
 
Don't think we have to worry about Villapoto. According to a source who was there he got taken out a few times after a bad start. Still he didn't have times that matched the top 5 in the Final. Probably looking over his should too much.

My source also said the bikes sounded like they were choked up and the course was not as dynamic as before. He thinks the sound levels are driving the tuning of the bikes. Talked to the Yoshimura guy and sort of got some confirmation on that. They are there with expensive sound level meters to try and protect their products against being disqualified by lesser quality meters and officials. Maybe this is just an Anaheim thing, it is CA and we are going to protect you ...it's for your own good. Maybe when they get to other tracks with less sound issues it will be different.

This sound angle is a little interesting ... Ear plugs are cheap and maybe give'em out and YOU have to be responsible for wearing them ... I hate to see racing coming to this as racing is where products are researched to higher levels of performance that will trickle down to consumers ...

Next weeks' racing will be even more interesting :) ... Really cool how the racing can build up each week ... I'm riding the same horses I picked before the season started ...

I'm really ignorant of track designs so I'm not sure on what is going there ... I just wanna see no big crashes due to the track...

Their speed around the entire course amazes me ... Why can't I go 1/8 as fast as them and not slide out on corners?

I'd like to see their clutch and front brake levers being used in conjunction to where they are on the track ...

No joke....remember when CA was da bomb?

I'm far from an expert, but if one starts stuffing up an exit (like an exhaust) things will become stifled and muffled. It's like the 405 feeding into the 5 at rush hour - ain't gonna happen.

BTW, I've been roosted by the other G Langston. It's never cool to be roosted, BTW. My kid was like, "Duuuuude, you just got roosted by Grant Langston!!!" I was like, "Ya, it sucked".

Doing fine here and thanks for asking ...

I was actually over rating myself with that 1/8 figure ... and believe me, I actually try to go fast in corners from time to time ... From time to time I see myself on a video, and its like when I glance in the mirror weekly, its like , damn that guy looks old and is slow ... How is he? :(

No one ever talks about it and it is just accepted, but these racers have to memorize the track and its numerous jumps and recall all that data on the fly as they zoom around the track ... Those jump are walls blocking all views to the other side of the track ... Thats quite a feat by itself ... These guys are studs on many different levels ..

Good question ... I'd like to see 1 equal opportunity attempt at racing a 2T machine with of course, a top rider ... Even if just for 1 race ... And 1 race might open the door and eyes ... I'm hoping the 2T races at GH do just this ... Maybe these races are why GH may not be a favorite of the ama?
