• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cody and I are in PA this weekend riding the Williamstown, Sheridan, and Tower City mountains. Plenty of coal, old railroad beds, and tight trails.

This is the "maiden voyage" for the GoPro Hero helmet cam. I'm not really pleased with it. The video quality sucks (as you'll see). I'll be getting the new VholdR Contour HD asap.

The hill in this video is a lot steeper than it looks from the vid. It's still pretty easy since the Antracite Coal chunks are somewhat hard-packed and about the size of grapes and plums. FUN!

In this one, I'm trying to catch Cody on his CR 125. Pay attention at about 1:20, the little ba$tidge intentionally sprays me with coal! You can hear the coal bouncing off my helmet and goggles! Pay no attention to the cussing! Also, watch our heads when we're on the paved road as the hot babe goes by at about 3:24... Momma!

Also take notice to how quickly we went from tight single trails to being in the backyard of my Mom's house. God, this is a rider's paradise! I grew up there on dirt bikes and the older I get, the more I think I want to die there... on a dirt bike!

Well to be honest..I kinda thought the quality was pretty good..not to mention the hottie :excuseme:....and especially the sound..your WR sounds pretty stout:thumbsup:

Real cool ripping on that anthracite.....and riding to mom's house is priceless :) I'm thinking the smell of hot apple pie from inside....would make a perfect afternoon....:notworthy:

I still ride in some areas that I rode in at age 12.....I know where your coming from

thanks for those vids

Thanks Troy. I guess the only real issue I have with the GoPro is in the tight stuff when the lighting is low or changes often. I do agree the sound is pretty good. I made the mistake of viewing some comparison vids at "Helmet Camera Central" and the new VholdR Contour HD is stunning for about $100.00 (US) more than the GoPro.

Speaking of 12 years old, I started riding those trails at age 10 and stopped at 16 when girls became important. I took those trails for granted as a kid. Now, when I'm in North Carolina, I have to pay to play and it takes a trailer and a tank of gas to get to our riding spots! Coming home to Pennsylvania to ride is truly a treat for this old fat guy!

BTW, Mom did have lunch waiting for us... no apple pie though

I think the video quality is great and the sound is very good too (funny when Cody sprayed you). I have seen many video comparisons with the VholdR Contour HD and to me the picture quality/resolution is a little better with the Contour (not by much), but the image is quite a bit more shaky. Plus the sound is better with Go Pro. How much you want to sell your Go Pro Wide for? PM me.

That was nice. Looks like some good trails.

We need more evidence she was truly a hottie though. That drive-by was too quick!
