  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Helloooo TC 250!!!

I will post up a ride report after the weekend, and report back with my experiences with switching from TE to a TC.
At least i won't have any elec start/speedo problems with this bike!

looks too pretty to get dirty! wondered why you needed 2 310s. is it rec rego'd(dont you need a headlight)? i thought they ditched the hot start lever with the keihin FI? bash plate looks hard core! cmon fess up whats the damage to the wallet & did it come with all the goodies or you bolt em on?

It does look to pretty to get dirty, but i already have a pretty one inside the house that has never gotten dirty so this one will be tasting dirt on a regular basis.
It is rec regd and technically i do need a headlight but i can't bring myself to put the headlight on as it looks to good with the race plate on, maybe my first encounter with the police might change my attitude but they are generally pretty good in Vic, only really worrying about license and registration rather than what's missing from the bike.
The 2012's still have the hot start lever, they ditched it on the 2013's.
I bought the racing kit that's available for 2012/2013 bikes which consists of
Bash plate
Front and rear carbon disc guards
Carbon front sprocket cover
Carbon chain guide
Alloy fuel cap
White plastics
Sticker kit
Ecu and 10 map selector switch.
Some things i took off my 310 and put on the 250 like, ARC levers, alloy oil fill cap, titanium foot pegs, front axel nut, 47 tooth rear sprocket and bar pad.
I am waiting on a rfx shift lever with red tip and a red rfx front break master cylinder cover and rfx red rim lock nuts.
The red silicone hoses i found on ebay and got them delivered for $30 they are sfs perrformance hoses and had $180 price tag on the packet when i got them, so i'm wrapped to get them for $30.
The wallet took a bit of a hammering but as soon as i saw the bike i forgot all about that.
It came with most of the goodies on it, i just bolted on the stuff from my 310 plus greased and loctited everything.

clearly you have too much money so therefore you should donate some to me, or the meo, im not fussy. have fun tomorrow mate :)

I've ridden them both...the Keihn FI on the TC is waaay better than the Mikuni TE on the TE.

Handles great....stops great...motor is not really fast but very smooth...starts 1st kick.

Be careful on the sag and fork height setting to get it to turn right.

Nice bike!

Went out yesterday with some mates and did a 100km ride, so i'm told as i don't have a speedo anymore!!
Once i get used to riding a 250 again i think i will be quicker on the TC than TE as being a fair bit lighter than the TE it handles better and stops quicker.
I started off riding it like my old 310 by being lazy with the gears and clutch and relying on the power and the odd flick of the clutch, which it didn't like. I soon remembered i was on a 250 and started being precise with gear changes and using the clutch a lot more we soon started to get along with each other and i was really enjoying the ride.
I had some problems with stalling, but i put that down to the engine being so tight, less fly wheel weight being a motocrosser and me needing to be quicker with the clutch.
Kick starting was getting on my nerves but i will get over that, and man has this bike got some compression!! The YZ 450 that was out with us was easier to kick start.
Suspension wise i was generally pretty happy with it especially off jump landings! But i will be getting a revalve to get some plushness in the initial part of the stroke to make it easier in rocks and roots.
Water Racer said i'd miss 6th gear and he was right, but this bike isn't for blasting down fire roads so that should be something i will come to terms with quickly.
The Keihn FI is brilliant and the power is very smooth and easy to go fast on, but on long up hills i had to keep kicking down gears to keep it reving rather than hold gears like the 310 would.
Overall i'm happy with the bike and after a few more rides and a little more set up, i will love the thing!

I don't have any money because i keep spending it on dirt bikes! Lucky i don't have kids or they'd have to eat sticks and leaves to survive!!
I'm not feeling that generous so the Meo's staying where it is! Haha!

.
In nsw there is no rec rego. I got pulled up and fined on my street for not having a p plate on a few years ago, I was on my p's admitadly but the fine is really stretching the point of it all. I am licenced regod and insured and even had the front wheel on the ground.. bloody CUNextTuesday police and regs

Did another 90 km ride today, which was mainly all single track. I had no issues with stalling and the bike was just awesome to ride.
I spent some time playing with the clickers on the forks and ended up going 6 clicks softer on the compression and 3 clicks slower on the rebound and was pretty happy. It could use maybe a little less oil in the forks, but overall I was happy with the changes and maybe I don't need a revalve.
I also did an oil and oil filter change after the first ride, so much easier to change the oil on the 250

Terrific job! Is there any bling you don't have?:) Very nicw.

One thing you might consider is a street tracker type number plate/headlight.
