    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

It was a bit cranky to start cold when I first got it home. I suspected it needed a bigger pilot based on the amount of choke time needed after it fired and the moderate deceleration popping.

It starts great when hot. Usually one kick.

Since getting home from my "shakedown" tour this afternoon, I had a PM from a forum brother (who shall remain nameless) who gave me some "inside poop" from a race team (who shall remain nameless). They suggested changing the following:

40 pilot (38 is stock).
Cold start: Choke. One throttle twist (I was doing 3). Moderate kicker stroke from just past TDC (kick "through" but don't try to break off the peg).
Hot start: (which I already figured out): NO throttle. Hot start button if no fire in two kicks.

When I got this info from the anonymous forum brother, I couldn't wait to see if it helped. So I dashed to the basement and yanked the carb, installed the 40 pilot and a flex jet fuel screw for good measure. I took the bike out in the 40 degree weather in pitch black darkness, pulled the choke out, cocked the kicker one click beyond TDC, smooth stroke... repeat... and SUCCESS! two kicks cold!

Congrats on the bike and please keep us posted on the new TC. How is the starting on it hot or cold? I was going to wait for the 2010 TXC250 but they didn't know when they would get them and I posted my bike and it sold quick. So I got a really good deal on a 8 hr old 2010 FE390 Husaberg and loving it so far.

Still don't mean in the spring time I won't look at one of these new Husky's, it's an addiction and yes I have a problem :lol:
 
I can hardly wait to ride one now. This and the 390 berg were the bikes I wanted to try this year. That new YZ450 would be fun to try as well / heard great things. Lots of amazing bikes and crappy economy, bad timing. :banghead:
 
Dang you, I just finished brainwashing myself this last weekend that my 250 XCF-W was the best bike in the universe. :lol: Now i'm back to wanting a 2010 250 TXC! Thanks a lot!!

I would be having at least a couple of new Husky models squeezed into the garage if times were better and I had any kind of a decent paying job.

I'd want a 125 and maybe a 300 two stroke or a 250MX model.:busted:

And a brand new truck, too.

And a castle and a pony.:lol:

Do yourself a favor and ditch the pumpkin. You will feel much better about yourself and us Husky riders wont point and laugh when we pass you!!!
 
This bike will be HUGE for Husky if they can get get some riders on the podium. It's THAT good. I know I'm just an old fatty with no skill, but I know a good thing when I feel it. If we can get a good rider or two to snatch a few races away from the "establishment" and get the attention of the press... The sky's the limit. I'm stoked.
 
The Husky bucks program is very nice for the amateur rider as well. So who knows could be seeing more red/white at the tracks. Hopefully they'll find some good young riders to put on the bikes and do well both in MX and GNCC type racing.
 
Based upon my experience rocking the bike from side to side, I'd say it will weigh 10-15 pounds more than the 125. I have owned many Husky's since 1995 so I am not trying to put a damper on this new bike but let's be realistic. An engine with four stroke valve train cannot have twice the displacement of a 125 and still weigh the same. The bike is still incredibly light but rather than set an unrealistic expectation and be disappointed, suffice it to say it is as light as anything else in its class and all reports indicate Husky has hit a home run.

Having said that I hope to have a 2010 TE or TC 250 in the next couple months.

It will be really interesting in the next few years to see who and how Husky competes in a stateside MX series! I'm also really anxious to see how Cory Graffunder does in all the extreme events with this bike (He's already doing well in the Endurocross)!

Taskys has one sitting on the floor with no takers. this is shocking to me. I would have thought they would be hard to get with all the hype. If it had the TXC gearbox i would be tempted. My 06 TC250 with the 300 kit was awesome but I HATED the transmission for off road. 1st was way to tall and 5th was way to short with gears crammed in the middle. did not work off road.
 
If I remember correctly there was a post where someone had one of the new TC 250s set up and on a calibrated scale. I believe the weight was 217 lbs without gas. That is a little more than the 125 but still as light or lighter than anything else in the class.

I will definitely at some point own a TXC 250 when they get the FI sorted out. I am just guessing but I bet the delay in delivery of the TE and TXC 250's is FI related. I had planned on buying one this fall, but I am putting all larger purchases on hold until I feel confident in having a 12 month a year job into the future.
