  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello, my name is Krieg and I'm a Huskyholic

krieg

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I had to go to PA for a few days on business and left a bit early to visit Mom and get in some coal mine riding before it gets too cold. So yesterday I strapped the TXC 250 to the MX Hauler an headed north. Got to Harrisburg and decided "What the hell, I'll stop by Toy Tech and say hello to Scott and Chris".

Mistake. I opened the door and was greeted by a 2010 TC 250... screaming at me... "touch me, feel me".

RESIST... must RESIST.

Note to self:

Dear self,

Don't go to Husky shops while traveling, lest you be prone to buy more Huskies.

My new TC 250 from Toy Tech!

Picked it up this morning and got it home in time for about 2 hours of shakedown. All I can say is WOW. All the hype and everything you've heard and read about "LIGHT" turns out to be a huge understatement! This bike is a 125 with a 250 engine attached.

The word "light" doesn't come close to describing this bike. It literally felt like an extension of my body that my brain was directly plugged into... surgically attached to my ass and thighs. The words "flickable" and "tossable" are officially obsolete. There's a new standard for 4 strokes as far as I'm concerned. Going forward, handling will be measured by a new yardstick called the Husky TC 250.

For break-in purposes, I didn't really hammer the engine. However, I did take it on some really gnarly, boulder and root single trails just to get a taste of the new frame and suspension. In a word... confidence! I immediately felt like I could take this bike anywhere. Suddenly, I wasn't scared that my old, fat, rickety body would get me into trouble. The bike rode itself. I just pointed it. Obviously, the suspension is nowhere close to being broken-in, but you wouldn't have known from this maiden voyage. Whatever vices were present from the new suspension where overshadowed by the complete confidence I had in my ability to throw myself out of any trouble I may have gotten into.

The engine: STRONG! Reminded me of our '09 CRF 250R (when it ran ;)), yet more predictable. As I mentioned, I didn't thrash the engine for the sake of break-in, but the few times I went above 1/2 throttle, the bike pulled hard in a strong, steady, predictable manner. For those of you who have been waiting to hear from someone who could compare the old motor to the new one from direct ownership experience... The new motor will rip the face off the old 250 motor. More "hit" just about everywhere. At times, even at 3/4 throttle, I had to fight to keep the front end from going airborne in 1st thru 3rd gears... not something I was used to with the TE or TXC 250's.

The only whine I can come up with at this point is the 1st gear final ratio. For woods, it is a bit steep and needs some clutch finesse to get smooth take offs on challenging terrain. I stalled once on some boulders, thinking 1st would tractor like my TXC... it won't. Not a show stopper by any stretch, but worth mentioning.

As far as lugging, this bike will go just about to the point of being able to count piston strokes before stalling, but not as good as my TXC. Again, I think it's related to final drive gearing?

I'm stoked about the thought of riding tomorrow. I may get some WOT time!

Beware! If you touch this bike you will lust. If you ride it... you will make a deal with the Devil to own it! :notworthy:

Nice. Your out of control but your in the wrong place for help as we are all enablers. :D

To bad you have to be saddled with the heavy pig version of that bike

You Lucky Son of a Gun! Just happen to stop by a Husky dealer and another one follwed you home huh! I believe you. Man you are weaker than me now I can use you as my scapegoat to my wife. Hey once you have some more seat time a WOT please post up your impressions. My son is looking at getting a CR/Wr 125 so how does the weight feel compaired to Cody's old 08 CR125? Enjoy your new bike you Husky magnet!

 You're right.

Hey man, you need to get to work on some rad guards for this bike! The new rads seem to be just a tad wider. Tried to mount a set of Motospz guards at Toy Tech and they were just a teenie bit too narrow.

A steering damper too, the tube on this thing is shorter than the older bikes (the weld is almost flush with the top of the tube).

Thanks man. Wanna buy my TXC???:lol:

This bike feels as light as the CR 125. I swear it's gotta be close. I'd like to see both bikes on a scale. I'd bet money the TC is within a pound.

Congratulations, somehow I feel a little responsible for giving the short ride report in a parking lot. I know you can't tell anything in a parking lot but it sure felt like it wanted to go. Do you feel how fast this motor wants to turn? Super quick.

Are you serious it really feels that light? Once my son found out how fast he is and how light my 125 is all he talks about is weight. He's faster on my Cr125 than he is on his 08 SX 505 KTM LOL and that thing is a pig. Since we can't seem to get a 2010 CR125 maybe I should steer him towards the 2010 TC250. What do you think you had both; what am I saying you had them all.

I'm dead serious about the weight. I would love to still have the CR 125 so I could put them on a scale.

As far as your son, one thing I've learned from experience from Cody... Some kids just seem to be wired for a 2-stroke riding style. Cody is one of them. I honestly think I could put him on a 4T 250 that is lighter than a 125-150 2T and he would still be faster on the 2T. I'm going to see how he handles this (MINE!) TC 250. This bike (TC) will help us decide if he eventually transitions to a 4T.

If your son grew up on 4T's and is comfortable on them... this bike will make him scream... a 4T motor in a 2T package. Life is good!

My son actuall grew up riding 2 strokes Cr80 , RM 125, KX 250, YZ 250 then started riding street bikes, gave up on dirt bikes until a couple of years ago then went straight to 450's. Now he's almost back to his roots. He ran faster lap times on my 125 I think just because it turns and handles so well compaired to his 450 and 505 KTM's. He is having to re-learn the whole 2-stroke thing and is still faster on one. But your TC 250 may be the ticket. I just called Toy Tech and talked to Chris he said the Tc's listed weight is 213.8 lbs; man that is light. Well enjoy and let us know what Cody thinks. I will weigh my CR 125 this week and PM you with the results.

Working on it. Want to get a 2010 250F before we finalize the parts. We think the 125 and 250 will be the same stuff but want to make sure.

When you see a TC in person and lay the bike over to the side and pick it up, it is ridiculous. Definitely +/- 1 pound between the two in weight of a WR 125 and a TC 250.

Kelly are the rads the same as our 09 125?
I just used some spacer to get your guards to fit back last March.
