• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Heavier fork/shock springs for 2008 Husky 610?

His Pistolship

Husqvarna
B Class
Howday All,

Just last week I purchased a used 2008 Husky Te 610 for $4,500. It has 1254 miles. Pretty fun bike. Looking forward to doing some mods.

I'm a heavy guy (300 lbs, and 6'1"), built like a lineman. I need to stiffen up the front and rear springs. I would prefer to do progressive springs up front.

Know of any vendors of replacement springs for the Husky 610?

Thanks.

The stock springs are pretty stiff - designed for rider and passenger apparently. Are you bottoming out? What is your race sag? It might be worth asking the PO if they put lighter springs in, its a common mod. I think the stockers are 0.50 for the forks and 6.4 for the rear. I assume you are going to progressives because you frequently change the load on the bike?

Thanks All,

Haven't bottomed out yet, but I also haven't taken it off road either. Haven't checked the sag. The preload is just about maxed on the rear shock. Smaller bumps feel a little bit sharp on the front, and I know progressive springs tend to be better at that, atleast that is what I experienced when I put them on my KLR.

I can just tell that I'm going destroy the rear spring in no time, thus I thought I should start looking ahead of time. Under hard acceleration the rear squats pretty bad. Perhaps I'm just used to a really stiff ride on the Super Tenere. That is probably it. Anyway, just thought I would ask.

His Pistolship,
Greetings. I also have an '08 TE610. It's my therapy so I mainly use it off road. I just did the LA-Barstow to Las Vegas ride. I was bottoming out the rear on the sand whoops big time. I lost weight working out for this ride and dropped to 214lbs. But I was bottoming out on whoops before this ride when I went hard on the trails. After the holidays, I'll be taking it to George at ESP suspension (La Canada, CA). I'm only 5'09 si the bike (all stock) with a Seat Concepts seat added is just a little tooo tall for me. I don't want to lower it the cheap way, I want to lower it the 'right' way. So, let me know if you (or anyone else reading) have done with your set up. I've owned the bike for almost a year and made myself ride it all stock before I change anything. (Except for the Scotts steering damper, had to add that for the LAB2V ride). Inquiry minds want to knowww:popcorn:

Thanks Coffee, but I'm Southern Cal guy. Jersey and Washington are a bit far out. But I have heard good things about ESP and they installed my Scotts damper. Have they been approached to be a site sponsor?
