  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Heads up to Melbourne, VIC riders

Not sure if this is the right place to put this however just wanted to warn other husky riders in melbourne about motorbike theft. I have had a SMR husky for a year now and had three attempts of it being stolen, the last attempt being last night.

Luckily each attempt has failed due to me locking the bike pretty well however it is becoming very annoying as each time they have caused damage I would say after the last nights attempt I would be at $1,500 mark in expenses to fix the bike. As much as it hurts me to say it I might have to sell it as it is getting stupid now and who's to say next time they wont break into my house and jump me to get the keys  .

Keep a eye out guys and make sure you lock her up properly.

Brisbane is bad... just off George Street. I think there were like 4 bikes gone in 4 weeks. Shitting myself, about my bike. I have a 310R so no real locking.. having to use a D bike lock and locking it to a pole. Any advice on what lock to use?

If they keep coming back for it, find a safe/secure place to store it offsite along with your gear (make it look like the bike no longer lives there). At a mates place, storage unit etc. If it's taken them 4 failed attempts to steal it they're pretty shit thieves lol

As long as there's a bike there, and they know that's where it'll be, expect continued break in's. Leaving it there just gives them something to practice their craft on.

I forget...are you guys allowed to own guns down there? How about a sign proclaiming this bike protected by Smith & Wesson?

Anyone messing around with my stuff would get a new hole in their head.

Ok ok so I'm an American redneck ruffian...

Perhaps a sign that sez I'll sick my 5 meter croc on ya.

I recently moved from St kilda where it was first attempted to be stolen in a secure underground basement. I now live in the eastern suburbs and have only been there for a month when they tried to steal it. I have a alarmed disc brake lock on it and the biggest chain and lock I could find which goes around a steal pole, I also have a DIY immobiliser. If they steal after all that put in place they deserve it I guess. I would lock it up elsewhere if I could however use it to ride to work.
