  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Headlight for my TXC

Irocleis

Husqvarna
B Class
I need to purchase a headlight before this upcoming enduro series so... Looking for some opinions on what light fits the TXC250 best? Looking for quality and fitment more than actual light power as I probably will never ride the bike at night anyway. Thanks!

If fit is what you want, then the TE light will work and look good but its not much for lumens.

For performance get a big-ass LED unit and run through switch to battery. This is our ancient Halogen 80 watt monster. '13 TXC has plenty of juice to run it, not sure about the earlier models like your '11.

Trailtech are good people and support events in our area....though I have heard that they are little help to those with technical questions regarding most Husqvarna applications. They make good stuff and stand behind their products, so if you know what you're doing they are highly recommended.

I'm going through the same thing. Have been in touch with trail tech to figure out a wiring harness...these guys are super helpful.
Are you wiring it directly off the battery?

If you are going to the 8" setup. Once you get the mount with a regular halogen, you can add HID later or LED conversion for cheaper than just buying it up front.

Another reason to wire straight to battery is to protect your stock wiring harness. We had a guy on a shiny new 350 KTM using a plug in LED (NOT Trailtech) on our 24 Hour team last fall....smoke escaped wires, blew fuse and he rode 15 miles in the dark using his helmet lamp. We rewired straight to the battery and no more problems the rest of the night.

And Motosportz will know the correct setup for your Husqvarna. He's located near the Trailtech guys and as Tinken said above, hes a Trailtech dealer.

Based on my conversation with Zach at TT...for a universal (acerbis, etc...) head light (not the trail tech X2) the wiring harness product number is 040-WH7A

I was under the impression that this white connector behind the number plate was a stock connector for a headlight? I'll post a picture later when I get home but it's a clearing white connector with 4 wires , it's behind the number plate and close to the computer connection plug. Am I incorrect?

I just put lights on my TXC 310. I used a trailtech harness, Acerbis LED plate hanger, and a Moose RAcing Species head light.

The harness came with a push button switch, but no easy way to mount it to the handlebar, so I used a Moose switch instead. The harness also had a bit of a strange layout, requiring a bunch of cutting and splicing to remove excess wire. I also had to get creative with bullet connectors to adapt to the Species headlight.

REgarding the Species headlight, I like the looks, but I'm a little concerned about durability. The main frame is kind of spindly, and I can see it breaking easily when I introduce it to a tree. Also, I eliminated the lower projector assembly because with both, the whole unit was HEAVY. I'm using the light for enduro legality too, so I won't miss the extra lumens. I probably would not have gotten this headlight, but I had a sweet 50% off deal, and I really don't like the looks of their Road Warrior light.

Does it need to be a DOT coded light or just a forward facing light?

If just a forward facing light this is easy and simple (any you can actually use it ride at night...)
