• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Head torque spec needed

disonny

Husqvarna
AA Class
Does anyone know what the torque spec is for the head nuts and bolts on a 1983 wr250?

thanks

Just a thought since you haven't received an answer so far. On my 83 500, the 4 nuts torque to 24 lb/ft and the 2 bolts to 18 lb/ft. If I remember correctly my studs are 10mm diameter and the bolts are 8mm, so if yours are the same size, likely the same torque, but I don't know this for a fact.
The specs for these bikes came on a technical data sheet supplied with the owner's manual, hard info to find sometimes.

Don't know which model your '83 WR 250 is, but my workshop manual says:
Model: Cyl head nuts (Nm): Cyl head screws (Nm):
MK 10500 - 19499. 40 ---
MK 19500+ 25. 20
ML 6000 - 15999. 25. 20
ML 16000+ 25. 20

FYI: 1 Nm = 0.7376 ft-lb.
Hope that helps...

Thanks guy's, appreciate the help.

Sorry about the formatting of my earlier post...I'm new to this forum and haven't figured out how create a table yet ( it looked great before I uploaded it -- honest!!).

In case my info wasn't clear, here it is a different way: If your engine has 4 Cyl nuts and 2 Cyl screws, then it's 25 Nm on the nuts and 20 Nm on the screws. If your engine doesn't have the Cyl screws, then the torque spec for the head nuts is 40 Nm.
