  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

did one on mine. Mine seized though, lucky it was under warranty. Did it at 800ks.

I was told by my dealer that there was a Faulty Batch, I say they are full of it & its old stock

I would silicone the crack.....just redo it every season or two. It won't hurt anything as long as it's sealed up.

Are you running the Keihin carb? If so maybe since it's 15mm wider it's putting extra stress on the boot. Just a thought.:excuseme:

It's the stock carb. I had an 2006 wr250 that didn't have this problem will that part fit it has a different part#

My 2010 125 is doing the same thing. It's cracking all over. I've got the bigger Keihin carb on it. A new one should be arriving shortly for me. I'm gonna have a batch of the 125's made by Hot Foot Moto. I think they will last longer.

Have they all been oem boots? If there is a bad batch then you could just order the same thing from anywhere that sells Moto Tassinari products.

I think it was 07 when the reeds were breaking which makes me wonder if when Husky orders a buch of stuff from Moto Tassinari that they do not get the same quality as what comes as an aftermarket part. That is how if goes with a lot of brand name parts when they are oem.

Black Shoe-Goo from the sports store works really well, too. It smells really strong so it must be good.

Mine needs replacing after 11mths 50hrs on a 2010 wr300, did anyone get it replaced under warranty?
Just put some sikaflex on for last minute fix. But seeing bout replacment this week.

Ha Ha that's a good idea. I've had poor kids on my tennis team that practically built their shoes out of Shoe-Goo because they couldn't afford new ones.

My 2010 TE 310 has developed a crack in the same boot (although though mine is a throttle body). I will be using some high temp silicone or sikaflex. I figure it is just a poor choice of materials, it should be more resistant to heat (As it contacts the head!).

Warranty ran out last month :(

Got my new boot today under warranty, plus 4 new carbon petals for the reed valves.
One of the tips was a bite rough when i took them out. So I sent them in with the boot.

I didn't have any trouble with mine.

It's a good thing that you look over your bike - that could be an expensive problem if not noticed right away!

???

What fuel are you all using?

Pump or PURE RACE?

I have stopped using pump with all my bikes due to the documented damage that the 10% ethanol does to seals, orings, brass etc etc....bad stuff.

use Aviation blue gas, low lead exclusively, especially my vintage race machines.

Just a thought....
