  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone tried the transmission gears from a BMW G450X in a TE449?

Radar

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I notice the first gears of the G450X are 13/32 as compared to the TE449's 14/32 (lower)

The fifth gear on the G450X is 25/22 compared to the TE's 6th gear 24/23

that coupled with the G450X's final drive of 15/48 and the TE's 15/51

That should give the G450 a lower low speed and a higher high speed.

If the G450X gears will fit the TE449 some shop should offer them as a wide ratio upgrade kit.

Any takers?

I would check the first gear part numbers. I would assume that it would match the the bMW if they are the same spec. Give it a try lol

Interesting. I see no reason why these gears couldn't be added directly over to a TC449, but to a TE/TXC might be a different story.

Dropped my truck off for some work this morning and found myself on about 5 miles of freeway with my new Motosports/Kelly steering damper and was thinking about this thread at a comfy 75mph...

The case part numbers are the same for the TC and the TE so a 5 or 6 speed trany should fit ether one.

I checked a little. I think you would need to change the entire tyranny to a 5 speed because I bet the gears are wider. The TE449 has a wide power band. As a dual sport bike rather than an MX bike it could work with only a 4 speed.

One would need to find a G450X that is being parted out to make it doable.

I think I will learn to live with the close ratio gears.

Specialized spacers to allow the gears to interchange between the bikes could be designed by someone. Spacers may have to be a per bike/engine design and be fitted.

Edited per request.

No-Go on 1st gear mods, the gear is attached to the shaft El-permanente. Yes on a taller 6th gear though :D

TE449/511 6th gear ratio is .971 and the G450X 5th gear is .880

What speed difference will it make if you replace the TE449 6th with the G450X 5th?

15 MPH would be great. Let me know when you have tried it and how much it will cost.
