  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Happy 2015 to me! New 501s

Could you please tell me which RAM mount part number you used to mount the double take mirrors? I just got my order from rockymountain and unfortunately the ram mounts are too big for the thread. I got the M10x1.25 male thread.....they won't screw in :(

Ordered mine from Doubletake directly, and just checked again on the "build your mirror" function. My receipt says "B" ball, and when you do the online order build, it show this for the ball;

Ball Stud Base
Threaded Base for 10mm x 1.25 thread pitch.
Compatible with all Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, and Suzuki bikes, and left side of Yamaha.

RAM Part Number: RAM-B-349U

Check out the Sicass Racing mounts for the Brembo perches. They work good for me and its billet aluminum.

Thanks guys! I do have the correct part number on hand; however, it seemed too big....I just went ahead and screwed them on. They're on now :)

decooney, have you balanced your wheels yet? I get some pretty bad vibrations at about 45mph when riding on the street. If you have balanced them, how much weight did you use? I'm planning on doing the balancing just as on the DIY videos on bestdualsportbikes.com

gameover, not yet on this bike. Yes, I get oscillation at 45mph too. I did all the balance stuff on my last bike (Beta) with dual opposing rim locks and weights but it was not perfect. I may try something different this time around. I see some guys are using the light weight motion pro rim locks. After I get a chance to go ride and burn these stock tires off I'm going to get new tires and might remove the rim locks all together and see how it goes for some upcoming rides that I'll be running higher pressures. My KTM 690 Enduro did not have rim locks and the wheels were fine, no vibes, with regular Pirelli MT21 knobby tires. I suspect the factory knobbies and rim locks on the 501S all contribute to the issue you see. Maybe try pulling the rim lock out all together on the front wheel as as test and see how much it improves?
