• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hangover Scramble, Washougal WA

Fun race to watch. Good job guys. All the top dudes are my friends / ride buddies... nice. I should stop being such a puss and race that again some time but it was real fun watching. Got some vid I'll post later.

Killer move through the pack Jake  When taking vid of the start I'm like "wheres Jake"

Greg, missed you out there. Sorry to hear you took a beating.

I was trying to keep an eye out for you but it was a long shot with all the pre-race chaos and everyone wearing beanies with the cold wx. I can usually catch your trademark "hairstyle". The beating = learning for sure:thumbsup: Guess I need to read up on these "tire studs". Seemed to be the ticket for people. Oh yeah, wear the gear:banghead:

I appreciate the sideline reporting Kelly, really fills in the gaps. But it does make me look like a huge dork. I am ok with that though.

The last three before the cold or some other glitch caused my camera to stop recording. :banghead:

What kind of camera, and where is it mounted?

It is the go pro hero HD, mounted to the chin bar of my helmet. You can see it here, my friend took this after the race...

Nice racing Jake! I could feel the pain on the starting line :( .... U must have been on the track before correct? That ski jump looked spooky and U were really hauling it over it ...

That is the TXC250 with the 310 kit and 14 / 50 gearing? I like the engine sound as you are driving out of the corners and it looked like u were picking up the front tire very easily...

PS -- that ice would intimidate me greatly ... I wear all gear all the time ...

Thanks Ray,

I have ridden the track a few times mostly on GP races, I have never ridden it as a MX track only though.

Yep that is my setup, it really suits the TXC well.

Jake, whoa bad start.....however for us watchers it was a great start.... get to see you pass an uncountable number of competitors, it made the video (1) really exciting! Nice safe and creative lines.
Were you guys using ice studs? It was mentioned above and when the track was described it was the first thing that came to mind.

Yeah Robert, my Turntech lithium battery doesn't work so well in freezing temperatures. I had about 250 Cold cutter ice screws in each of my MotoZ tires. It ended up being a awesome combination. I lost 1 screw in the front and none in the rear, I think I will pull these tires off and leave them as is for next year.

Excellent videos Jake! Motoz and screws.....hmmmmm. Traction is a nice thing to have. Will have to look into that for next year.

Cool race coverage. The tire studs comment answered a lot of questions as to why guys were off the trail / passing on the inside inside video questions. I see a local from here in the interior of B.C. won the overall at 49 years old he must have picked up his training this year.

Later,

Jake,

Are you using the 2.5Ah or the 5Ah Turntech? My 5Ah was struggling initially out of the trailer but rocked after the 1st start of the morning. I could actually tell it was warming up from start attempts as it took about 5 attempts to get the bike running. 24F.

It is the 2.5, and I didn't even try the electric start until it didn't go with the kick start... My 2.5 is almost 2 years old also.
