  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Do any of you know what the stock specs of the handle bars that came on the 2009 wr 250/300? I'm looking to replace mine but don't want to get to high of a bend because of the tall bar risers that come stock on the Husky.....Or maybe what brand are they mine just say "centralized axis" on them.
Thanks.

Anyone else run a bend close to the Domino bend ? I'm thinking about ProTaper Contour Windham bend or KX High bend.Thoughts?? Also does any one know how much the Dominos are to replace???

I use the Fly Areo Tapered part # 18-95432, they are 29 1/2 wide compared to the 31" stock bars but have about the same bend. They are just a bit taller than stock, maybe 10mm at the most. The difference in width is great it the tight trees.

I have some Fly KTM bend bars and they have what looks like the same bend and height as the stock bars on my 09 WR125.

Does anyone know where I can get bar end hardware to mount hand guards? The ID on these Axis Centralize bars is smaller than any others I have.

I do like a bit taller bar. I use the Moose Flex Series Mini bar. 29.5" wide. No cutting. Those are the bars in my avatar photo.

I tapped and installed a 3/8 helicoil then used a 3/8 stainless bolt from ace hardware. I have this on both of my bikes and it is the most secure hand guard mount I have ever had. They never try to rotate when you hit stuff.
I was taught this by ISDE veteran John Fero.

Have those bars on my wife's bike. The only thing I don't like about them is the sweep. Makes the brake lever stick out at a weird angle, but they do have a nice height to them.

Mine have a fairly straight bend and I like bars with a straight bend. My levers don't stick out at strange angle. Maybe her's are bent ?

This is the trick! I bought a tap and helicoil kit from Pep Boys. Bonus: made in USA! No drilling required - just tap, vacuum chips, insert coil and break tab; screw in and go. Many thanks WR...and I did not have to buy any China-made 9/16" bit (that's all they carry these days) found at the five hardware stores in town (not one had good USA-made bits), not to mention Lowe's and Home Depot.

Like I said before, not only is it easy, I have never had more secure hand guards. I also drilled another mount hole on the interior end of the guard( about 1/2" away) so the clamps still match the taper of the bars after narowing the bars.
