As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Well, yes... I'm familiar with most of those and have installed a wide variety of brands, often with a lot of cussing over having to overbend, cut off, drill, and otherwise warp the things to fit, including threading the inside of the bars. What I'm after is someone who might know of a clean, unburdensome installation on the husky-ktm bar shape, thanks.UFO, Polisport, Racetech, Acerbis, Circuit to name just a few.
PS you are asking for wrap around type, of course right? Because the OEM open end flag type ones that come with the bike are excellent. For wraps i like cycra or enduro engineering types
I had a set of enduro engineering ones. They were fine. my brothers are still in high school and money was obviously a factor so they went with the Tusk set from rocky mountain ATV. After seeing a friend of mine destroy his EE set two different times and after watching my brothers crash countless times on smack the Tusk set again and again with no damage I tried a pair. I am impressed! Been on my 300 for two years and still never had an issue. I would buy again. I watched a set a cyrca pro bends break last weekend and have yet to see anyone of the three sets of Tusk we are using break.
Don't hold me to it but I believe I had to buy oversize mounts from rocky Mountain when I put the guards on. Like I said my brothers gas gas hits the ground a few times and his haven't broke. Not saying the pro bends or EE are bad. I'd probably buy either again, but for the money it's tough to beat the tusks. The bars themselves are fine on the Tusk ones, but the bar clamps are not. I've seen those shatter on a tip over.
I've run the Cycra Probends on the KTM bars and not had a problem fitting them, except that I always cut my bars down. I assume the bend hasn't changed. Are they still using Magura bars? You'll want to be sure to use the right taper on the mounts. I've been using the center mount Cycras for a few years, and they've been solid. But most of my hits are trees, I really try not to crash anymore.
