  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Guts seat foam install

Those look crazy! might just be the ticket

i've got the 2 inch rox risers and i wouldn't be able to go any higher without changing the cables. depending on which bike you have, you may need to get longer cables if you get the 3 inches.

heres my setup

they are great. the adjustments on the bars are infinate so can place them just how you like. they are also crash proven

Where did you get the fork bleeders? I need a set for the te 449.

We really steered (pun intended) this thread away from the OP. Sorry.

well we are just bumping the thread to the top! as far as the bleeders go, i believe they are motion pro bleeders. i got them from my local ktm/husky dealer.

yeah i already have rox risers on my bike. its just i'm learning to ride standing up and it just feels awkard. i've only been riding off road on 2 wheels for under a year so i'm still green.
there's definately been some improvement in standing but my comfort level is higher while seated. i really need to take a good offroad riding school and learn the basics of riding off road.
i think my downfall was growing up on a 4 wheeler. been riding them since the age of 9 and its a totally different animal when on 2 wheels.
I can totally relate. Haven't owned a dirtbike in 20 yrs so it just feels weird standing but I'm getting used to it. Stand up wheelies are the hardest for me.

With the stock foam I could just touch my toes to the ground while sitting on the bike. With the new foam, I can now touch the ground flat footed.

Cheers
Doug

I know this post is 10 months old, but can anybody else verify that the soft (stock height) foam makes this much of a difference in ride height?

I been riding dirt bikes for 40 years, and my 2008 TE 250 is the tallest bike I have ever owned. 32" inseam and I am on my toes and can just barely tough the ground. Problem is I have fallen several times when stopping because I can't reach the ground if it's anything put level. Last summer we were riding along the edge of a stream, I put my foot down and fell over. I went in the water far enough my head was under water. I never knew goggles sealed that tight. It was weird opening my eyes and looking around while my head was under water :).

I was going to run down to see the "seat guy" but this sounds like it would be better then just shaving 1" off the seat. There are times I move back so far my butt is on the rear fender to get under low limbs on the trail. Having a "shelf" in your seat makes sliding back hard to do. Plus my bike is kind of tall running trials tires on it :).

I did 2 things to resolve the same problem on my 2013 TE310R.

1. Get the suspension lowered (about 30mm) and revalved for my height/weight (short-ish 5’10” & stocky 95kg)

2. Bought a lower seat from Appalachian off-road MC in the US. - https://www.ktm-parts.com/8000H2442.html

Bike rides SO much better now.

Hope this helps.
