• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone ever been riding in the grand Juction area of colorda? Wondering what the off road opportunities are there. I know Moab is a couple of hours away but I'm wondering what around Grand Junction area specifically. Thanks.

I am partial to the north desert. There are trails that will get as technical as you want. We have some new single track in the north Fruita desert. There is lots of riding in Grand Junction without driving into Utah. Bangs Canyon has Butter Knife trail and the tabaguache. There is 27 1/4 rd area. 25 rd area. You could go up hunter canyon (21 rd) to the new Sarlac trail. Do some you tube or vimeo searches and you will see what is available. My advice is park at 27 1/4 rd north of the airport. Ride west to the 25 rd wash and go north. There is a trail that follows the base of the bookcliffs all the way to Thompson Springs, UT. Or you can park at the 18 rd OHV area and ride there. Options are many.

GJ has some awesome riding. I live in the metro Denver area and have been riding over there for nearly 30 years. There are always some winter riding opportunities between snow storms. There are lots of videos on YouTube that show the riding. Search for: Skinny Ridge, Rabbit Valley, Peach Valley, rim trail, sidewinder trail, Hunter's Canyon, or dirt biking grand junction and you will find a few. Or search CoKTM on YouTube and you can find a couple I posted. Riding varies from fast desert terrain to technical desert single track. In the summer it gets hot there but the mountains and Grand Mesa are close by for riding. There are literally thousands of miles of trails within 50 miles of GJ. I grew up in Ridgecrest so I am familiar with the terrain in your area and I am sure you will find GJ just as diverse and possibly more abundant. Check my avatar for a shot of the north desert.

Right off the freeway to the right there is a big riding area full of trails and hills. It is very open but super fun********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************!

If that is the north side of I-70 I know where you are talking about. I've seen in a couple of times but have never had the opportunity to ride there.
