• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Graffunder increases his lead in the AMA West Hare Scrambles Championship!

DB AZ

Husqvarna
B Class
Cory Graffunder on his FMF, Sidi, Troy Lee, Flexx Bars/Fasst Co., and X Brand eye ware Husqvarna took a disapointing 2nd. OA at the "Funky Chicken" in Elkton Oregon. "When we got to the track it looked just like home (Canada) with miles of single track and a great grass track sections." Cory had the assistance of Husqvarna's Regional Technical Specialist Charles Jirsa, who finished 3rd. in his class on Saturday, help prep the bike and tune-up the forks and shock with some "New" settings. "Charles is a huge help both getting the bike to the races and running the pits at the race. This is the first time we have been able to work this close with each other and we had the bike to beat. Not just the fastest Husky, but the fastest bike at the event with the best set up I have had this year", Graffunder stated at the end of the event.

So what went wrong? "Well the course was awsome and the Husky just worked. I got the lead and set a pace that no one could match. On the last lap, with a 2 min. lead and not far from the finish I had a lapper move on me and we hit." This is the second AMA WHSC in a row that a lapper has taken Cory out of the lead. "The bike was damaged and bent, but the big problem was the rear brake pedal was rapped around the foot peg and the brakes were locked up" The Canadian "farm boy" would have to make a trail fix just to finish the race. "I used any thing I could find to beat that sucker back, so I could get the brakes to release" Cory said. "The gap I had was going away fast and Rory (Sulivan) got me and I got another 2nd. place. The good news is I still lead the points chase by 12 pts. and I am looking forward to the last round in Motana, The Big Sky Event and a shot to win this Championship for Husqvarna."

Note: Cory will be racing the Utah WORCS race this weekend and is in 2nd. place, just a few points from 1st. Then on July 1st. it is the X Games, where Cory has moved to 5th. after 2 rounds of EX.

Cory I know how that feels, but not from lappers (from embedded rock hits) I've had my brake pedal bent under the same way twice (on my TXC450) during races, it sucks gabbing anything nearby trying to bend it back watching guys you all ready passed go by as you are getting your arse kicked by a friggan brake pedal and locked up rear. (I strained my dang back at the tecate hs because I practically picked my bike up by the brake pedal trying to get it out from under the motor)

Hey robert next time just release the bleader screw no fluid no pressure Ride it in no rear brakes. If you have no tools just break the rubber hose

Handy tip there ajaxauto....

Watching first hand; Cory put on quite the show. People who had no idea who he was were cheering him on because he was doing such an outstanding demonstration of off-road riding. We were all stunned when he didnt come around the last lap in front. His nemesis Garrahan wadded up approaching a road crossing about half way through lap one and nobody else ever got close until the brake mishap.

He and Charles are a class act. They were friendly and informative to the rest of the Husky riders in attendance, shared pits with us and represented the Husqvarna team well.

Even though events were clearly influenced by others I heard no whining from Cory when I talked with him a few minutes after the finish.

We hope to see Cory and Charles (and Redmond? and.....) back next year at the Funky Chicken as they are great competitors. You guys are welcome in Oregon anytime.

I got the pleasure of talking with Cory Saturday morning. My boy had just finished his race, and I saw the Husky tent set up, so we went down to see what the deal was. Cory was working on his bike, and a group of kids started to gather. He brought the posters out, and one of the kids saw his face was on the poster and said "wow, you must be pretty cool!".... It was hillarious! The kids disperesed, then Cory took the time to BS with me for about 10 minutes. Super down-to-earth guy, and just happy to be doing what he is doing. We are new fans of his for sure**************************************** Thanks for the autographed poster Cory! My boy loves it!!!

Its good to hear this young fellow is doing so well on a Husky ... Good luck on finishing out the year in racing ...

Cory is a class act for sure!

He was hauling, it was really rediculous how fast he was going! Pretty cool to watch up close.

On this one I thought I was going to die! He took a line that no one else was taking, carying tons of speed! I was sitting in the brush just to the side of the fast line that only two guys took and Cory came thru first. I didn't think I got the shot because I was ducking in a hurry. We joked about it after the race and his response was "I wouldn't have hit you" it was classic.

Charles also hepled me with some suspension setup advice to try to smooth out some of the hack that was out there.

Later,

We've been passed by Cory on his 449 in tight rocky S/T on his way to victory over Red Bull KTM rider Ivan Ramirez (who also lapped me of course!!) , the guy is fast and super smooth and really knows how to use his height to leverage the machine ( he's a freak of nature to be a top tier 449/511 racer). And yes he is a regular mellow easy to speak with off road rider.
