had a nice diverse group from beginner to expert. first part was pretty sedate 2% climb in the big ring...quail GALORE. never seen quail in the SMM's. got to the first road cut and my team manager was gonna double back with the begniners. my two expert bud's said "we're taking kev with us, gonna try and kill him".
joy.
i'm nowhere near on any kid of form but...i'm in! glad i went. man was it epic. first real ride back since last year. last climb i got some form back and started to bridge the gap and got to put the hammer down some. over 20 miles and about 3000' + of climbing, most of it ST! and, i snaked them on the entrance to the ST decent, mreeep! had to be 500 turns back to the truck w/ only two massive moments, one a near miss with a tree and my new shoulder- it's would have been BAD, we stopped for an OH SH** moment just lookin' @ each other...then busted up laughing and went back to hammering mreeep mreeep! (yes i make that noise pedaling) weather was a fluke, only around 85*, one climb was kinda toasty but it could have been triple digits easily, as it was the day before. mucho thanks to my boys for stokin' me up. got some new trails in my logbook and i can loop these sections in on others and make some killer 5 hour epics. so if any of ya's so cal's like pedaling lemme know. we do lot's of this....(pics: me on cardiac hill last year, one of several steeep switch's in a row. real gagger in 100* heat...and a still of Trigger, one of my pedalers...)
