• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All info is linked here, I have never done WORCS but did a Western HS event in 09 (WHS was a Sean Reddish family run series as well). Very professional and well put together, transponder scoring, top notch series. If you plan only one race its not very cost effective, you may want to check the 2012 schedule and hit at least a few of the races to make it more cost effective for your yearly fees. That 1 WHS I did was great but for doing only one of the series it was expensive at the end of the day. Your Class needs to be C to start out, the WORCS comp level is deep, see Kenny's speed. My only real connection to this exact series is our groups older fast guy Dax#22 who won the A vet class championship(I think thats what its called) and raced WORCS Pro for top 15 finishes in the mid 2000s, he has nothing but praise for the series.

DB22 among some very fast company, tough road for a solo vet privateer.

T - let me echo Robs' comments that it was well-run. As mentioned on my new racer thread, I am likely to go back for more WORCS beatings in 2012. ;)

The transponder rental was $10 for the weekend on top of my class entry fee(s). Weekend gate fee at both GH and Racetown was $20.

There were no sound check concerns.

I did membership and pre-entries using their online sign-up and had no probs or complaints. Sat morning check-in at GH was smooth and easy, they were a little slower at Racetown but not a big concern.

The first meet I went to at Glen Helen did the 50+ C class and then next day in 250 C (mostly young kids incl Destry Abbotts' son haha). Great extra race time, but realistically I will only be competitive in age group class. If their event schedule allows and you are up to doing two 1 hour races maybe age group AND displacement group? Your 450 is legal in both 450 or Open. I'd second Rob in that C is the place to start...on some of the WORCS propanganda they mention C as "Beginner" but those guys I've raced against so far were well-versed, well-conditioned and anything but a beginner rider/racer.

HTH, that will be fun to have some familiar faces and Husqvarnas at WORCS in '12!

Oh, also...

At both meets I entered "unclassified" for the 30min practice on Saturday morning. Got two laps at each track, well worth it. They only run the unclassified prac Sat am, so if you enter at a meet where your race class is Sunday only you might want to consider that.

This year, Rocky Mountain gave back a $20 Gift Card for each entry (incl. unclassified) which was cool. I am hopeful that program returns in 2012, but have seen no announcement yet.

I am planning on it****************************************

I've always raced "Beginner" Class at Glen HElen in the SRA GP MX races..... Have podiumed three times now...2nd and 3rds Usually always top Ten and close to holeshotting everytime.... you are right... anyone entering "Beginner" at Glen Helen is not really a "beginner" ....

So I'll start off with "C" 40 + which more than likely means a SUnday Afternoon race time for me... may have to go on saturday to get signed in and do the " unclassified Practice"

Back to working out even more tonight****************************************

For what it is worth WORC for 2012 has races planned the same weeken as the Big 6 and National Hare and Hound. Many a top and local racer have confirmed they WILL NOT be returning to WORC in 2012.Heard that even the current #1 overall plate holder for 2012 Kurt Caselli will not return do WORC in 2012 but will defend his # 1 plate in the National Hare and Hounds.
Lots of info about this at

Update for WORCS 2012 and GH:

Their entire 2012 race schedule is online.

The GH event schedule is not yet posted, however pre-entry is now open and available.

I am planning on going.

Hey KK I'm trying to make this one work... I'm thinking that I would need to do Master 40 C... is the practice for this event on Friday? Am I reading that correctly?

I am managing and head coach on a 12U Girls Softball team here in a and our evaluations tryouts are on the same day... trying to figure out if I can be there by my race time at @ 2:40 on Saturday.

We'll see how it goes...

What classes are you going in...?

T

I pre-entered the Unclassified (practice Sat AM), 50+ (Senior) C, and Open C.

Last year the 40 and 50+ age group races were Sat, and 'regular' C class races were Sunday.

Haven't seen a event schedule yet, so not sure they are doing that again. Don't know that I would do 2 1-hr races same day, unless there is a good rest break in-between. :p

iirc, GH did run some Friday practice last year, I wasn't able to attend and do not know if it was the full course. This year hoping to go all three days  If I can get there Friday, it wil be more of a sightseeing day in hopes I'll survive. :D

Kenny you know the drill, just get out and do it!! Its the same as any day just be safe and ride within the envelope. And from my experience stay away from other riders as much as possible!!! Keep us all posted.

Sound words Robert, thanks!

T - I forgot to mention re your timing, ya without seeing their actual event schedule for 2012 you may or may not make it. I'l sure post up if I catch the schedule somewhere! :)

thanks Kenny....

I'm good for Friday practice 9-2 ...

I have 12 U Girls softball evaluations on the 14th all day... I'm a 12 U Manager and head coach

I'll have to leave Corona no later than 1:00 to be able to be there and ready for my 40 C race at 2:40 P.M

my dilemma ....hmmmmmn...... trusting my asst Coach to review all the girls that go thru evals in the afternoon session by himself.... this is a very competitive league... I really want to do this though ....... .

How does everyone line up for race... everyone on the line mixed up or by class at the same time...?

Each class generally has its' own line, last year I think my 50+ C started 5th wave, Master C was 4th iirc. If classes are small they might have some combined, they advise before you get onto the start area and had the rows well-marked.

Kenny : thanks for the info and updates...I just had first round of Corona Girls Softball Evals yesterday... 72 12 year old girls!!!

Just found out that I have 2nd round evals again next Saturday A.M. and then have Impact pitcher Evals at 2:00 p.m. Saturday... this WORCS event at GH is not going to happen for me...

Best of luck out there and post up your results!!! I'm cheering for you...!!! other wise I would have been gunning for you!!! LOL ****************************************

Put that Gunsight on the Podium!!!
