  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Get a 2010 or wait for '11

I have been reading about the trials and tribulations of the wr125 and in particular the BOG. It seems to me most "serious" or on the heavy set side, choose to add the 144 kit to make the bike EXACTLY what they need. So this brings upon the question I am about to submit, even though I think I can answer it on my own.

Is it better to wait and purchase the new 2011 WR150 or do all the mods on the 125 and hope I can get it just right?

P.S. I know someone, somewhere, in some test article, will find something finicky on the '11 wr150.

I hope this question doesn't seem as silly to you as it does to me.

Regards, Tommy:doh:

If you want a "plug and play" bike then I would wait and see what the 150 is like. If you don't mind a bit of tinkering the you could pick up an '09 for $4k, slap a carb and 144 kit on it and save maybe $500 or so. Then you also have the 125 piston and cylinder if you happen to need it.

Thanks lawndart. Exactly the reasons I am lookin' for!

Anyothers? Anyone? Buehler?

I do not think you can go wrong with the WR125. The bog is solved with an adjustment of the PV arm. The carb is hit or miss, but comes on both of the bikes I believe. I think the '09 comes with CC Marz, '10 with OC Marz, and '11 150 ???

Depends if you are willing to wait. You can probably find a 125 for $4-5K right now.

Thanks JS, I think I will keep taking in as much info, revalve my suspension on the YZ and wait for the perfect timing.
P.S. The dealer in Squamish, Canada w/2010 wr125 is asking $6800
