• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

helo, I have a xc150 (2011), I use it for riding hills and and just general bush riding like through pines and stuff, but when I ride on a fast section, it runs out of gears too quick and is too slow in top gear, the gearing was 50tooth rear and 13 front, but now ive put on 48 rear, I haven't ridden it yet, but will it still climb hills well in first or second gear??

what so just ill have to give it a bit more up hill?
because I had to change it as the top gear wasn't quick enough but it should be now

by the way, with my bike, its been trying to cut out and stop, but when we cleaned up the spark plug it was fine for a while, is that all it would be?? ive just put a new one in now though so ill see how it goes

Start looking for an old WR tranny. It has the same 6th but 1st is quite a bit lower and then the rest of the gears are spaced accordingly. That way you can gear it up and still maintain very close to the same 1st/2nd gear ratio's. This tranny is great for the 165 as it has the torque to easily pull the wider spacing when you gear it up significantly. You want the tranny from the wr from 98 through 02. Some of the early CR's also had this tranny.

I probably would go that far, ill just muck around with the sprockets, but thanks for the help! do you think with 13/48 it would still get up alright in first though?
