  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gearing a 2010 tc250 for offroad

Bought a dealer demo 10 tc250. I am setting it up for enduros and hare scrambles. Recluse is ordered and on the way. The bike has stock gearing on it now. Getting ready to order sprockets and oring chain. What size sprockets are you guys running? What length chain do I need?

In the couple trail rides and off road races I rode my TC on I used the stock gearing and it worked fine for me. If I were to hit some really technical stuff I would probably toss a 52 tooth rear sprocket on it. I want to say the chain is 116 links stock, I usually just get a 120 link and cut it to fit.

Later,

on my '07, i also like the stock 12/50 setup for off-road. i planned to try a 51 or 52 for really tight stuff but never did. (i mainly only use the TC on track since getting a WR for off-road.)

i order 12/50 sprockets with a 114 link chain. not sure if the '10 is the same.

On my 2010 tc250 I am running 13-52 works well, hare scrambles you probably can get away with 13-50, rekluse will really help you get away with it in slow going.

That would be great if you do any connector roads, but this 2-stroke guy would not be excited about figuring out how to do that.

Yes, I have been looking into that. There is an extra wire coming from the stator that puts out ac current, should be able to run some kind of lighting. Alternative would be to have stator rewound.
I do miss having a kickstand, haven't found any nice aftermarket ones yet,(Kelly, are you listening?)
