  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc GasGas piston in WR 300

We (Motosportz) have the replacements in stock, no problem with supply as far as I know.

That's what I like to hear!

Maybe if you could give me some bank account #'s I'll just start having my paychecks directly deposited into your account!

At the speed I ride and the fact that I am currently laid up I am a long ways off but nice to know I have a spot to go when I need to. Thank you.

You should take a look at a 1986 trx250r big bore piston. It has the same pin and deck height as the gasgas but with the WR intake shape.
Gasgas piston on the left and 66mm trx250r piston on the right. Wossner trx250r big bore piston part# is W845PS. Wiseco also make this piston gut i can't find the part#.

I must say having now ridden my '10 WR300 4 times at the MX track I don't get all this ignition, pistons, carbs etc talk. The bike has plenty of good and usable power with the stock carb, pipe etc and at the most maybe you can tweak the jetting to your liking but I can't see anyone needing or being able to use more power unless you are a true front of the pack "B" level or expert rider. Older weekend warrior types are just making it harder on themselves trying to extract more power from the engine and your money would be better spent on suspension and ergos.
Tinkering is one thing but I can't imagine especially for woods riding that unless your name is Kearny,Davis etc that more power is going to make you go faster in fact I'd say it would actually do the opposite as you'll wear yourself out quicker.
All I've done is adjust the air screw set the idle and I'm running race gas at 32:1 and it starts easily and runs great. I've had no trouble keeping up with similiar skilled riders as myself on their new 450Fs so it's not lacking engine in stock trim.
Either way have fun tinkering but I just wanted to add my personal take on the WR300 as I think from reading this site that folks who are researching a WR300 would get the impression that in stock trim it's not a good ride and that couldn't be further from the truth for the average joe.

No, you're right, it's killer. I can't get over how high I can run up in the gears in technical sections. With that said, I'm not sure what I'm doing either. I guess it's a sickness of sorts.

Cancelled my piston order today and re-ordered the Race Head. I'll reconsider the piston when it's time to replace the stocker.

The race head was a little over $100. It ups the compression, but you can still run pump gas. Good investment in my mind.
