• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gas Gas to aquire Italian Husqvarna engines 2T and 4T

To me I prefer the perimeter frame with the tank low and wraped around the engine . The seat goes way up to the front. I think for me the husky feels more top heavy with a full tank. I also like the way they turn a little better in the tight stuff.

This had been a rumor for a while. GG needs a good 4 stroke engine as they can't seem to bust into that market. But they also need a 450 class 4 stroke. As for the 2 strokes I don't see the husky motor really being a step forward from the GG motor which is already very good. Pretty EZ to build a 2 stroke with whatever powerband you want these days. This should be interesting. I dont think the x-light frames will be in the mix but should be. The GG frames are what make those bikes 10 or so pounds fat and people are complaining about it. I personally find the X-light style frame one of the best going, period. Stable and turns on a dime. As for fuel weight Tim mentioned this to me is easily accomplished by building a KTM like tank that carries the fuel low. I dont know why husky chose to leave 2 gallons of room between the bottom of the tank and top of the motor but a simple tank redesign will get all that fuel low.

I think there is a part that's being overlooked here.

BMW/Husky wasn't sitting piddling their thumbs on the 2 strokes. They supposedly were dialing in a new 250/300 design prior to the sale. KTM, at the same time, was doing the same for their range and has no interest in 2 new 2 stroke designs. So, if that speculation was all true, which would make a lot of sense, then GasGas might have just purchased a killer new 2 stroke package. I doubt we'll see a Cagiva engine in a GasGas, but I bet we finally get to see what BMW had in the works.

Unfortunately, I can stop at the GasGas NA headquarters for trials bikes on my way to my Husky dealer, but the off road market is handled at a separate facility. I don't even have a GG dealer remotely near, but my Husky guy does sell Beta...

You are probably right on this. It says they bought "technology". Normally that means you buy successfully tested ideas or designs and not actual tooling or dies. It just depends on what type of agreement they have come up with. I'm sure more details will follow.

I am confused. I thought I read somewhere recently gasgas was either in financial trouble or not doing so hot these days?

Gas Gas was given at 2 million euro loan by the government which allowed the money to be used for "technology acquisition and empowerment for international business.". Sounds to me like the Spanish government is investing in local business trying to spur the local economy. I for one hope they can get back up and building X-Lite motors and the much rumored direct inject 2 Stokes ASAP.

Too big to fail huh? I hope it works out for them but with the orange juggernaut sucking the air out of the room it may be tough sledding.

This capital inflow from Avançsa comes with a co-investment by an international group, which last March contributed to Gas Gas Motos, more than four million EURO. Avançsa secures directly in following the evolution of the Gas Gas project, given its strategic importance to Catalonia.

Who is this international company? Is this SP in disguise? Maybe more 3rd world emerging market players? China? India? lol .... The world is so small today. We need a new bigger planet.

Direct inject 2 Stoke brought to you by the Spanish GOV $? lol
