  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Gas cap

Just got my TE 450 and so far love it and cant wait to get the PU on my bike. I do have a question, my vent line from my gas cap keeps coming off. Do they make a after market cas cap with a small vent line? Thank you.

Find and cut yourself q short piece of clear vinyl hose that fits the interior dimension of the vent line. The push it onto the gas cap nipple and push the vent hose over it. It's what my dealer did to secure it.

Hardware store will likely have the hose.

my new 2008 TE450 has the same problem - if it doesnt fall off while riding it certainly does when i unscrew the cap (cap spins, hose doesn't). i've seen pictures of caps with a stubby hose/vent (maybe 3" long) but have not located for my bike. the after market caps i have come by have the same little nipple so will presumably have the same disease.
I don't follow the advice on the clear tube - try again? does the clear tube go over the nipple on the cap or inside of it?

Take a 3/8 to 1/2" of carb vent hose shove it down over the nipple then shove the vent hose over that. It's tight and simple. Later George

I was going to say that George. Last again, thats what being down under does for ya.

Had the same issue.I used a small piece of wire, which is almost buried in the grove of the cap. Never had problems again.

just when i thought i had i figured out.... the site linked above only offers Tusk caps for jap bikes and ktm's - anyone know cross compatibility with a 2008 TE 450? Read stuff about older Husky's fitting KTM's but not sure on an 08.

This has served me well. :) Ken

am confused - thought you ordered the Tusk you linked above - is there an IMS version of that or is that another cap (i suspect latter)? What model Husky did you fit to? Really want to order but don't know which one fits... Thanks for the help
Or if anyone else knows which Tusk i should order for a 2008 TE 450...

no one's got a cross compatibility answer for 08 TE gas gaps? The Husky is available for a pretty broad range of bikes at site above, just not husky's. Would really like to lose the hose when taking out the charcoal canister this weekend. Thanks!
