• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Garage Door Vulnerability

Even though I live in the geriatric gated community I never put my stuff on display
Coming back with the bike I always coast with the engine off into the garage
Inside the neighborhood I’m very mellow on the gas
The bike gets washed in the fenced in back yard, not the front carport
I don’t open the garage doors if I don’t have too and put the bike at the back where the day light don’t shine on it when I do

Basically I treat my precious as if it’s (one of) my dirty little secret… :devil:
Oh, and it helps to have a few retired old navy guys that stay at home as good neighbors :busted:

Getting inside is one thing....


Also a good idea to chain things up...you gotta make the buggers work for it..too much fuss and they will go somewhere else :thumbsup:

but make no mistake if they want it bad enough...yes there going to take it


now if I could just figure out a way to apply 120V to the locks and chains:smirk:
 
My garage doors don't have windows, so I suppose it would make things a little more difficult. Still, worth following glangstons advice.

Here in Australia, We don't make our garage doors that easy to get in. Our door release is at the back of the door run. so your piece of wire would need to be about 3mtrs long

That's an eye opener.

I have a solid garage door that is always padlocked from the inside. I work from a home office, so I'm basically here 24/7. I have a 90lb dog with a 200lb bark. And I never miss my mark with the 12 gauge!

Fort PC is on lockdown! (knock on wood)
 
PC, I have your bike over here, needed it last night to measure up some stuff so I just took it (did not want to wake you). Tell Fido thanks for all the love, he is a sweet dog. :D

On a not-so related note.....
A few years ago I took my then-new YZ250 to the dunes and it kept attracting unwanted attention in the hotel parking lot. Since you cant remove the temptation from the thief, I removed the bike from the parking lot

The hotel owner was not too pleased after the maid ratted me out.

It really sucks we have to worry about this crap :thumbsdown:
 
A guy I ride with had thieves try to knock out his garage side wall as the doors were too secure and exposed. He heard them and they bolted. But those rotten mongrels will do anything. I believe there is a dedicated bike ring that was just busted north of Sydney. Its about chopping for parts rather than to ride, thats even worse.
 
God help them if my wife's home and this happens. Champion deer skinner in her county in Upper Wisconsin. That's after she drills them with the FN 45 she makes smiley's with at the range. ;)
