  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi guys, I picked up ,y new 2017 350 FX yesterday. I'm coming off of a 350 fe. For my riding I think this will work perfect.

No tool kit for this bike? Thought that was strange. I get a plug wrench and 1 open end wrench. I also bought a ton of anodized and carbon part to install. I've noticed that 2 carbon pieces won't be working unless I get more Peet's. So we'll see there. Choke is a bit funky. Location could be better. I can't get my exhaust plug in the muffler with out marking some changes there also. I'm looking forward to working out the forks. And breaking in the motor. IMG_0247.JPG

Help me understand with exhaust. My 2015 FE didn't have this (arrester?) that I could see anyway. This thing won't allow me to stick my exhaust plug in. Should I remove it? Can it be removed?

I can't stand the sound of my stock exhaust. Ordered myself an Akrapovic slip on today. I hope that smoothens it out.

How much different is the FX from the FE? I thought is was just some mapping changes to make the FX a bit snappier

Here's a pic of the EPA garb that comes on a 2017 FE. Top is an airbox that contains restrictive reeds. Weighs about 2.5 pounds not including the airbox. IMG_1602.JPG

The new FX are coming with all sorts of parts and pieces from the factory in order to make them legal in 50 states. My 15' had nine if that and was nice. My FX is pretty stripped down. I've heard mapping is different, suspension set up is different as well. nitnsure what else but, again mainly the FX will mimic the FC moto bike.

I have a 17 fx350. I really love the bike but it does seem a little "corked up". It feels like there is more potential there. I think its the air box. I put a street legal kit on it and I was shocked by how sealed up the air box was. I'm coming off a 14 yz250f and it feels like the 250 had a bit more off the bottom. I went down to a 13 tooth for the woods and that made a big improvement for the woods.

Give some serious thought to a flywheel weight. Even 9 oz. makes a noticeable difference in shifting some of the torque towards the bottom end.
