  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fuel tank manifold vent mod for 449/511

Rearwheelin

Husqvarna
Pro Class
1/4" brass tubing and a small reroute . This should never kink or get pinched and cause your EFI tank to have a low fuel level when your bulk fuel tank is full.

how is this different than getting rid of the canister, and just venting to atmosphere?
This mod hasn't anything to do with smog mate , it's just a preventable maintenance mod to keep your gas flowing into the efi tank . Should this line become crimped by a zip tie or bent or wedged between the sub frame and tank like mine was it will not displace vapors into your main tank as fuel from the main tank enters the EFI tank and will cause a low fuel level in the EFI tank wich is not good for the fuel pump.
Is what recently happened to Shawntrain http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/2013-te511-fuel-tanks-not-communicating.31432/ and a few others who had the same problem and I'm just now getting to the scoop as to why. The line off the right of the gas cap goes to smog or atmospher . I have seen my bike a few times leave trails of fuel when climbing really steep stuff, normally it's supose to end up in the smog can :)

so you replaced the left line with brass tubing? so the left line is the supply?
You only need to replace a section of line with the brass tubing. The pic is your fuel supply. If the vent plugs it will only allow a certain amount of fuel in the efi tank much the same way a 5 gallon water jug gravitates water into its dispenser ..... If you were to drill a hole at the top of the 5 gallon water jug it will dump all 5 gallons overflowing the dispenser.

New problem - I can hear the evap can making a funny noise - at least I think it's coming from the evap can. But know my baby doesn't idle, has a super "jerky" throttle, and appears to be an oil leak near the starter motor. I just read in another thread about how the case bolts need to be tightened. All this with less than 70km so far. I'm on holiday in Vegas for a week then meeting up with the boys at Moab for another week. Just before it started acting up - I was thinking, whoa this machine has some serious power, I better be careful.
I will take it over to the dealer tomorrow but I have to thank the guys who are posting - it makes zeroing in much easier.
I am totally loving this bike - it's way over my head:) - I just hope to have it all sorted for the rest of my trip

rip that sob evap can off! runs better imho, could be psychosematic not really sure. but plug the vacuum hole with a 8mmx1.0 bolt the same length as the vacuum fitting and unplug at the tank end youll be happy you did!

Update- the oil drip is coming from the evap canister the cases all look dry, as does the starter motor. I had hoped to remove all that business and add the power core 4, racemapII all at the same time but I will still head over to the Vegas dealer and see if he's got the muffler and remove the other stuff there too. I guess a reset on the throttle is wise as well?

Ok - new theory: I overfilled the fuel tank and fuel went down both vent hoses. Fuel got into the evap can and then there was some sort of blockage in the other vent hose. I think I tried to put too much fuel into it today - all was fine until then.
Dough!

Plug that manifold line and see if your EFI tank fills... It won't ... Even if you have every single vent line full of gas they should clear themselves as fuel level runs down. It's possibl for the manifold vent to become a little loaded but it should not stop your fuel from moving into your EFI . If you have fuel loaded clear to your evaporate can I can see how this could vapor lock the upper tank but fuel should drop into your EFI tank as soon as you take your gas cap off.

Ok I will take off the gas cap in the am - need to recover from that ridiculous drive from Canmore to Vegas
That evap can is gone tomorrow too:)

Update - took off evap can - it was full of gas - it was gas leaking and, maybe a bit of coolant to, out that looked like an oil leak. Plugged the hole into the intake on engine head. Bike runs fine now - still experiencing a slow fill of the lower tank. I hear the gurgling noise from the right hand side vent hose, I think its from that little "flying saucer" disk which I assume is a one way valve which I will replace tomorrow. Then the only thing holding me back are my skills:)

The flying saucer valve is a two way.... it lets in air as the fuel level drops and relieves tank pressure before your tank ruptures and probably why your charcoal can was making noise :) it has nothing to do with your tanks manifolding, your left vent line is what relieves the lower tank pressure and equalizes it to the upper tank.... sorry if I am missing somthing :oldman:
