• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Front Wheel Bearing Noise

Pro Class
Anybody else have a bit of a hum coming from your front wheel bearings? Bit over 2000 miles on the ODO, I snugged up the axle but it's still humming. It didn't used to be so obvious. It's most noticeable when idling down, if I pull the clutch and roll at about 45 I can hear where it's coming from, since it doesn't drop with RPM's. Wheel spins freely and has zero play on the bearings, but I was wondering what the expected life on the bearings is. I'll probably get another 1000-1200 miles or so on the rear tire, so I may just swap the bearings when I get new tires.

Check the tread on your front tire. On all my street bike the front would eventually get noisy from the tread feathering. The harder you use the front brake to stop the faster it will happen and it will make the front tire hum.

These are the stock Pirelli Diablos with a zig-zag groove down the middle, but not much other siping in contact with the street in a straight line, and no feathering that I can see...:excuseme:

You're positive it's not the rotor dragging on the brake pads?

It's a possibility, but why would it be so much more apparent recently than in the first 1500 miles? I know the hum of the rotor when you get on the brakes, but it always goes away once you let off. This is constant and doesn't go away when I'm on the brakes, I can hear it at the same time as the rotor hum.
