  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Front brake squeal....

A Class
My front brake on my TXC squeals horribly when i get on it hard. This is my 1st Husky so not sure if its normal or what. Anyone else have this problem or a fix for it?

How does the rotor look? No excessive wear grooves?

Some of the pad types make noise but not sure on the details ... If no one gives a valid solution here, maybe try a different pad type ..

There is also the case where the pads need cleaning ...

The rear brake on many 950 KTMs would squeal and the fix was to use organic pads.
It worked for me.

We all have different results and such but I'm using the pads sold by Motosportz ... Neutrons brand or something ... So far, after about ~400 miles. no sounds, very good wearing characteristics it appears, and stopping power seems well to me ...

I have pads from Motosportz too:thumbsup: - and they work great! They "feel" similar to stock ones- which is predictable, progressive, and strong. I think I remember my stock ones squealing a bit more but not a bother or concern.

seams lots of factors could add up to squealing: condition of parts, contamination, brake pad material type- main thing is they stop the way you want in the conditions you want.

My 630 front brake howled like a freight train. EBC X pads fixed that right up. Part number for the 630 is 611815.

My squeal went away after 300mi. or so. Was only when I got on them hard. 2011 Te449.

Love the brakes though!

Squealing can be from contamination of the pads or rotor. It can happen from over heating either too. I will clean my rotors with "brake clean" and that seems to quiet them down but just for a while. Keeps the stopping power strong too. I haven't tried to use different pads or scuff the glaze off the rotors yet though.
