• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First power and mega bomb and then everyone jumped on. Now it looks like Dungeys new bike has a 4st expansion chamber. Interesting.

Must be a one cylinder thing to dampen the pulse and minimize reversion... at least that's all I can imagine it does.

PAH !!! That design has been around for years, The chinese developed it in their search for MX /Enduro domination but at the time couldnt afford to pay a top rider to ride the bikes LOL

There is no patent on a FMF mega bomb, never was one, in fact they stole that design from someone else. FMF claims a patent on the power bomb(2005), but they could not patent it until Akropovic's patent ran out after 20 years. Akro still makes the best resonators, tube on top of tube design.

I fully agree with the Akropovic's design as being the best. But the price for any brand's full system is ridiculous. I have a very similar set of resonators right before the rear mufflers on an HKS Dual SS Exhaust system on a Nissan 350Z. It was mirror polished SS, Tig welded, Probably 30+ times more material and work to fabricate and it costs less than a full Titanium single 4 stroke system for a big bore bike made by Akropovic. Explain why that is and we would all be happy.

Everybody steals things from each other in the motorcycle marketplace but FMFs design is something they have further developed from the original Powerbomb design and they still have everyone and themselves raving about it. There's not much to it really, it is very simple. {See picture below of it's internals.}

We already know about FMF falling out of favor with you for whatever reason and I'm sure you have your own reasons. So I won't argue with you on that.

They are all way overpriced for what you get and for the cost of material to build such a system, regardless of what alloy is used SS, Titanium, etc. or who manufactured it..

Sounds like someone is playing with words again ... Like that play on the word synthetic in the oil world ... I'm not sure we have that oil thing hashed out just-right, yet...

Yeah...they ripped off that Heimentwatz guy. Regardless of what you call 'em, the one on my 310 seems to help the low and mid-range a lot.

It's because they fund tons of race teams and not just fast and furious magazine for exposure ;)

Really though, all these motorcycle exhaust companies need to not only have the racers but also advertise like crazy. They are priced stupid high for the willing though

fmf is out of favor because its unnecessarily loud.

I got my slip on for 175$ so I am DEFINITELY not complaining, but man is it one loud mother....

My Q4 with PowerBomb is not any louder than stock. In fact, I was hoping for a bit more raspy exhaust note that did not materialize.
