  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Found THIS in my oil today.......

Link for the image is no good. That link is for the attachment in your email which won't work here.

Do you mind sharing the details on the extended warranty you have? I've never heard of them for dirt bikes

When I bought my TE310 a 3 year warranty was offered as well for $350 but I passed. I was worried about all the modifications that need to be made to make the TE's run right and the legal aspect of a modified bike in regards to warranty.

Because the bike is street legal (dual sport), I think that was why I was able to get the extended service contract. It was thru the shop (GP motorcycles in San Diego) and not the manufacturer.

Lucky you're still under warranty. Check the small print though, a powerup voids most warranties.

That's a bearing cage. It's motor splitting time. :)

Actually the bearings are made in Germany and are pretty good. As long as we run the thinner 0W40, they hold together pretty well.

That's when I found this. I had just taken your suggestion and was changing to the stainless filter and Mobil1 oil......:o. Any ideas what might have caused this?

I've seen this happen before, it has nothing to do with your oil brand. The cage part of the bearing isn't best made part of the bearing and sometimes they just fail. The rest of the bearing is probably fine, but I think it's a good idea to get in there and press a new one in.
