• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I know it's not a Husky, but this was too good not to share. I like all of us I am sure browse Craigslist quite frequently and when this popped up yesterday I had to get it. Still has original tires, all the original plastics and stickers are in great shape. Story is, it was only ridden about 10 times and I believe it. It fired right up on the first kick and was sold. I am going to strip her down and go over her with a fine tooth comb and I am confident it will look like it was in a time capsule.
I won't say how much I paid but you can guess!
(first pic is the one they put on craigslist, I knew it had to be nice since the factory graphics were still in tact)

ah jeez your killing me. 00 or 01? I had an 01 and it had to be the most amazing 250 two stroke motor I ever rode. Turns out service honda uses the 01 motor in their custom built 250's because they consider that the best 250 two stroke motor honda made.
here was mine

Good deal for sure! Sometimes one can find some good stuff on CL.

Found the kid's 04' CR125R and my 98' YZ250. A buddy of mine found an 06' CR450 totally outfitted for desert (IMS tank, headlamp and all) for $2500! The thing is smoking awesome!

Was it 02 when they went to the electronic PV that everyone hated? My buddy bought a 02 new and was very disappointed in the motor. I rode it a few times and loved the bike but hated the motor. Weak bottom end then big hit, was hard to ride smoothly and horrible on loose hill climbs.

^^^^Less than 2K, more than 1500$
I am cleaning her up and the previous owner owned a paving buisness, I guess he decided he wanted to play on fresh blacktop with it, the bottom of the front and rear fenders are just covered with tar. Finding out the best thing to take tar off plastic with is unleaded. Got a buzz going on from it, lol. I am a little concerned at how little has been off of this bike, I don't even think the wheels have been off of this thing. All the bolts and nuts for that matter look like they have never had a wrench on them. I am wondering if I should pull the pipe and check the top end? Whats the best thing to get exfoliation corrosion off of cast aluminum? (the white dots) I tried wd-40 and a wire brush, that kinda worked.

That is a great deal.

A buddy of mine works on small aircraft for a hobby and builds lots of kits. He deals with oxidation on aluminum all the time. I know the stuff he uses is Alumiprep - but it nasty stuff. It is very strong phosphoric acid. We experimented with some marine grade acid and this stuff is WAY stronger. It will do what you want, but take proper use precautions (ventilation, breather, air movement, rubber protection, etc.). The parts we works with that were heavily oxidized looked beautiful.

1600$ was what I paid. I am going to try oven cleaner on the oxcidation, it is not all that bad though. Maybe a red scrubby on the frame.

Wow - awesome deal!

I dont thin oven cleaner is aluminum safe - check that for sure. For $1600 I would just squint and ignore it!

After a bit of elbow grease this weekend. New grips, new transfer case oil, new spark plug, drained old fuel, fresh tank of fuel, and a lot of work. Next week, I take it to Rock Front for a trial run.
I may give that alumiprep a try. I used good old fashioned red scrubby on the swinger and frame, but the hubs and cases need some love.20140308_175639.jpg20140308_175602.jpg
