  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

PC filter....not sure what happened...the screen had the same stuff in it too. Not a lot of metal shavings...not magnetic. Feels like rubbery dirt after washing it in brake cleaner. Engine has 12 hours on the rebuild. 11 txc 250

The oil filter looks like it got crushed....what would cause this? BTW...it did not let particles pass through...so I guess it worked, but I am still puzzled...

Seems to be consistent with the clutch basket rubber cushions. Maybe they went south. They are a hard black rubber compound. What weight oil are you running? If you are running 50w it seems from other sources that running 50w oil can force a high oil pressure scenario and actually crush the oil filter through pressure.

Ha...thanks for the ideas. Been running 0 40 except for yesterday. I mixed 0 40 with 10 50 to see if the can chain would quiet down....

Cam chain sounds silent right now...Doooh! Probably not funny sorry. My cam chain on the TE310 was a bit noisy running the light weight too but Halls seemed to think it wasn't an issue. I just sold the 310 so I have no idea if any long term issues would be in play.

I'm not sure what your cam chain guides are made of but if you have a noisy chain maybe the guide (s) is (are) bad?

I forgot to tell my son not to ride the bike until I figure out what's up...he put in a new oil filter, added 0 40 and rode 40 miles on it. Hardly any particles in the filter...so I think I'll just ride it. The oil was pretty darn brown...not black but deeper than I thought it should be...leaving for Hatfield McCoy on Wed...too late to do anything anyway...hope all is good. BTW...clutch works smooth so I don't know if its the rubbers.
