• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Footrest fitment & years...

I have just tried a set of our footrests on an Aircooled Mono Husky frame from 1985 and they fit! (Not sure about the springs though) This was a surprise to me as I didn't think they would. Can anyone confirm that the other 85 bikes are the same as this for me please? (I think they are all the same...)

We are now working on the computer model for ones to fit from 1986 to 1989..

Thanks in anticipation of your help,

Both of my 1986 430 autos came with the old style square looking pegs. The 1985 models came with the old style foot pegs. In 1986 most models came with the newer style pegs. I guess the 4 strokes and the autos were the last to get the updated pegs in 1987. Here's my 86 with a new set of IMS pegs made for the earlier twin shock models. They bolted right up, but I did have to file the frame tab a little to them to pivot correctly.

86-88 are different from previous years...the bolt hole goes through at a different angle and they are constructed differently..jim pretty much nailed it with the 86 autos being a holdover from 85. they likely used up the old frames.

Hello Andy,

exactly today I tried your footrest on my 85 (single shock) and yes they fit, just on the left side I had to use the original spring (hole on the frame), the one you provide is a bit different.

(I suspect I will ask you to bring me another pair in Elba :-))

andy, if you could make some pegs that fit the 86-89 bikes i suspect youll find a few buyers. we really have no source of pegs other than custom..

While I do like the HVA factory pegs in the first post and would buy a set for my 86... I really like the design of those IMS pegs.

I got Husky Products pegs on my 1986 400WR. I lucked out with that as the bike also came with the HP damping rods in the front forks. It came with the HP expansion chamber as well
