• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Folding tip shifter

rww

Husqvarna
AA Class
While cruising the web I cam upon a post where some one had ordered a moose racing folding tip shifter for a 2003 XR250R 2003 Honda and put it on a G650GS ,2007, and said it fit "perfect" . Does anyone have one to see if this is true ? If this is a yes, there will be choices out there for cheap.

Well the one from msr has the same splines and will go on but hits the case unless the tip is pretty low....SOooooo NO go ....buy the Touratach piece

Also read that the steel Moose lever for an XR650 MIGHT work. Can anyone confirm this does anyone have a part number for a lever they know works?

These may work as they fit the BMW.

1) A 99-06 MSR YZ250 shift lever will fit perfectly (PN 34-2148),
or
if you want a shorter shift lever then use
2) A YZF and WRF (250, 426, 450, 400,etc) (PN 34-2147)

The above shifters will bolt right on..The splines are identical, and the bends are perfect..

Moose shifter.
Part# 1602-0015. bought it from Thumper Talk Store for $30. It shows:
YZ250F (06-08)
YZ 450 (06-08)
WR250F (03-08)
WR450F (03-08)
It is a steel shifter w/folding tip.

Also look here for other ones.

I have the Touratech shifter and it fits, but there was only ONE position that worked. Down one spline and my boot wouldn't fit under the tip. Up one spline and the shifter hits the case. However, in the workable position, the lever is just fine for my size 10 boots. If you have really big clodhoppers, you'll just have to experiment.

This one did give me at least 2 to 3 positions without rubbing case, more in the higher than lower position. Down side is it is gorged alloy which I found will not bend back far if tweaked. I thought about bending it in but not going to at this point.

I busted my stock lever on one of my first rides(hiding rock in the tall grass)... I was out of luck because the husky/bmw dealer was closed for the day, but a japanese motorcycle store was open, so I picked up a shifter from an xr650. It stuck out further than the stock for sure, but the splines were the same, the bolt to tighten it down was a little hard to access once on the bike though. For a quick fix, it worked, but once the touratech lever came around I bought it. Not the adjustable one, just the folding tip version. Very clean looks, in a light crash it would survive. they drill the steel out so in a bad crash it will break the lever, not the selector pin. Good idea in my book. Ill carry the xr650 lever with me just in case.

I always liked these...
They look good...but do they fit???

Wicked good looking pedals!
The only brake pedal close enough to work with a mod or 2 is the one for the F800GS, that I found. It was steel and I had to cut and weld. Biggest difference is the rear portion of the pedal has too shallow an offset to actuate the master so I cut it off teh original pedal and grafted it onto the new pedal. These are all steel so welding not an issue.

Could you do me a favor and post a pic please? I want to use it to (visually) cross reference other shifters.

About the Torc 1 shifters, the toe piece for the YZ models are blue, so if you want the red it's another $10 to get the red replacement.

I had a deal with them, so I ran all their stuff on my KTM. It was good stuff, but the foot pegs had a design issue with a KTM 200 kick starter. Easy fix though.

The adonizing doesn't last long. At least on the shift tip. It's hard to say if it's from the boot or from the conditions I race in. It might last a while on the road. I'll probably order one in a couple weeks.
