  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FMF replacement sleeves

Hi guys,

Any idea if FMF sells their Factory4.1C sleeves are replacements? And if the Factory4.1C sleeves will fit onto a Factory4.1 Ti directly?

Emailed them a week ago and nothing.

Thanx guys!

I dont want to start a rant on FMF....but I ordered a pipe some time ago....and noticed two tracking numbers....in my email

I contacted Tony Ceranos at FMF via email right away...and told him there was a duplicate order( not my mistake as I received one order number)...and asked him which one I should accept....and which one I should RTS...

He didnt get back to me within a day on email.....so I called him directly.....he heard my story...and put me on hold(LD 15$ phone call) after waiting for half an hour I hung up...he never came back to the phone

called him back the next day....and the same thing.....and the next day and so on.....

next day UPS arrives I open the box....and its a pipe for a KTM ????? ...frick...once the box is opened you cant send it back through custom's across border(unless its resent ..$80 bucks !! and I pay !!!)

next day another pipe arrives...and its the right one for my CR

called Tony back at FMF.....and same thing.....puts me on hold I wait over half and hour or more and no response...another 15$ phone call !!!

I must have emailed him 10 times...and never once did he reply...

I spent $600 on pipes....and still have a new KTM pipe in the wrap....

bottom line ....if you ever end up with a duplicate order...and you cant get a hold of someone.....RTS both items and starts over.....or you'll be sorry and ripped off

Having said that...I have since bought many other products from FMF all good(hey they have good stuff ****************************************!! and I am a big Donnie Elmer fan !!).....but ordered them from another supplier....

PLS be careful !!!

next time I am in So Cal.....I am going to take that pipe with me to FMF personally.....and wring that guys neck !!

I am half way across the world in Asia right now haha.

Did email them twice few weeks ago, but no reply as of yet.

Should I try following Troy's footsteps and ring them up?

not trying to add fuel, do either or both of you know your local FMF distributor (Parts Unlimited Canada for example) or other in the Asia region, dealing with them would eliminate the personal dealing with all the customs.
You can deal with the distributor (official agent of FMF) and they can deal with all the mis orders or contact FMF for your requests. Just a suggestion. My phone suggestion was biased as I live in SoCal.

I buy my FMF stuff through Rocky Mountain MC/ATV or from a local dealer that gets them through Parts Unlimited (and he gives me a good discount). I have often found that Manufacturer sites aren't set up for the greatest customer service.

Thanx for the input Robert and Dirtdame.

The local FMF dealer is a one man show without a shop front, doesn't have stock for regular items and is slow to boot.

I will check if online stores are able to get the FMF replacements sleeves then. Didn't think of that earlier!

I thought your post was useful info. Nothing like being stuck in a situation like yours to bring out the true colors of a company. These guys know that their business in special niches like this rely on internet and over-the-phone sales. It would be bad business even if you could walk into the store and return the thing to treat you like he did, but knowing you're many miles away and stuck in the situation like you are and not caring about it, is absolutely terrible business. I think these types of things should be brought to the surface. I think most people only want to do business with those who want their business. Anytime a vendor is this maliciously unconcerned about the plight of a customer everyone needs to know. This is not just an instance where they made a mistake and did their best to correct it and the customer is bad-mouthing them anyway. Your rant was warranted and I consider it useful information-and that's why we all come to this web site. Preach when you got a sermon brother!

No updates from TT side. MXsouth says they will find out for me only if my order is LARGE. Rockymountain ATV/MC says they don't do "special" ordering @ the moment. Motostrano pointed me to FMF. And FMF still not replying emails.

Looks like a phone call is due huh...

If they won't respond to emails and phone calls, how do you think they'll handle your order?

I think someone should sneak in the backdoor at the FMF warehouse and give the sleepy sales manager a "HOT FOOT"

:busted:

Shucks, Darkside is giving me the wet blanket already! :D

I guess calling will be my last attempt and hopefully not futile as we've all predicted. Whats a good time to call them? When they're sober?

All I'm saying is, you might want to try special order through a big box store like cycle gear. FMF won't want to screw around with that relationship and if it doesn't work out you can get a refund easier.
