  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I've been wanting to add a pipe to my new TE511 but I've been going back and forth on which one. I've got an Akrapovic from a 2011 sitting around the shop that I can put on, or I can order a new FMF. Anyone have any experience / preference for either of them? I know that I'm probable going to open a can of worms with the dreaded "Flame Out" but I need to get a little more beef into this thing. My other thought was to "de-cat" the stock pipe, that just seems like a lot of work.

Thoughts?

Since you've already got the Akro sitting around, I'd go with that. No point in spending $300 + on an FMF if you've got an Akro. Did the Akro come with
your bike ? I've got the Power Core 4 on my 511 and love it but I'm sure the Akro is as good or better.

No, the Akro came stock with a TXC511 that we sold months ago. So it's just been sitting around on the shelf.

I'm a fan of quiet exhausts but I must say, the FMF'S sounds amazing on those bikes. Still kind of quiet for an after market exhaust

Not sure what bike you've been listening to. But I put an FMF on my plated 2011 TE 449 for the specific purpose of annoying my dickhead neighbor who calls the cops whenever I even start a dirtbike in my garage. It helped the midrange. It helped the top end. But most importantly for me, it was obnoxious. It gave me great satisfaction to ride my street-legal 449 with FMF repeatedly up and down the road in front of my dickhead neighbor's house...knowing he couldn't do a damn thing about it!

The dealer I rent them from has them on each bike. Maybe I just don't think they are to loud because I'm riding it and not behind it lol
There's actually a pro circuit for sale in the classifieds thread here. They are some really nice looking exhausts.

Nothing wrong with the Akro can and they are quiet enough to be near stealth mode when racing. My brother gets FMF stuff subsidized but declined to swap the Akro from FMF on our 511. Its fast and sounds good.

So I think that I'm going to De-Cat the thing this weekend and see what she does. I just can't stop tinkering with it. All else fails, I have a stock de-catted muffler to hang on the wall. Maybe I'll make a potato gun out of it?

If you have the Akra laying around put that on.
In Australia the Akrapovic comes standard on 449's and 511's and we also don't have all the emissions crap on them.
De restrict and power up your bike as much as possible put on the Akra that you have lying around, then if you think you need more power buy a jd tuner and you will have an absolute beast of a bike!!
My 449 has the Akra and is powered up but it doesnt have the jd tuner and i dont want any more power from it as it's fast enough as it is and it leaves KTM's eating her dust!!!
This is my bike here

I like the FMF Megabomb + Factory 4.1. It was also the preferred setup for the factory race bikes.
