    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

FMF exhaust won on ebay. Need your advice

Well over the weekend I just happened to be on ebay and figured let me see if there are any good deals on exhaust for my sms 630. Well I found a fmf powercore 4 for $299 shipped. So I did the buy it now and paypaled the money immediately. Now today I get a message from the seller saying he messed up and he will either give me my money back or sell it to me for 432 which he says is his cost. Now I remember a few months ago some guys on here had a similar issue and the seller manned up and sent them for the listed price. I know 432 aint a bad deal but my problem is once that buy it now is used and the thing is paid for its a contract as far as im concerned. The seller should have verified the price before listing it. What do you guys think?
 
I think you'll find if you lodge a dispute with eBay then the seller will have to sell the item to you for the listed price. He has stuffed up and will have to wear it. eBay will take the same approach I'm sure and he will want to cooperate so as to not effect the reputation of his store. I would first lodge a dispute with eBay, this action will also let the seller know you're serious. Good luck mate!
 
Kinda seems like a bait and switch. I would either force the deal for $299 or walk away from it.
 
I don't think Ebay can or will force the seller to honor the price. It was a mistake and now seller is doing his best to help you without losing money. This issue is further complicated by a major motorcycle parts distributor listing the TE630 FMF exhausts with wrong prices in their catalog. When the seller goes to order (Ebay sellers don't stock) distributor corrects pricing, then seller corrects pricing back to you. What if it was a $1,000 exhaust and mistakenly listed for $10. Would you expect Ebay to force seller in that case or actually expect seller to take that loss? Probably not. FMF MSRP is $599, if you really want the pipe $432 price is very good.

I would believe the deal was legally concluded - the asking price was accepted and paid. The seller should honour the agreement.

im with silverbullet on this one. if the guy is willing to return your money i imagine thats all the farther ebay will push on that.
 
It depends on what your budget is. If $432 is still a good deal and it's not out of your price range, do it. If not, get your refund. My initial reaction is to be upset, get my money back, and walk away. But, then you've got not exhaust.

Whatever direction you choose, that would probably be the last time I'd deal with that seller.
 
The same thing just happend to me; sellers lister made a mistake. Had it been shipped before the mistake was caught I would have taken the deal. He did catch it, and I allowed him to cancel the deal. One thing I'm not happy about is PayPal. They take your money right away, but put a multiple day hold on the refund! For the regular discounted price of the Q4 I can buy the Uptite exhaust from George, or take the time to de-cat my stock exhausts. I'll probably do the latter as I do like the look of the duals. However, loosing a few more pounds sounds good too. Decisions, decisions.......
 
Had this same issue happen last summer on EBay with a FMF exhaust for a TE630 and I contacted the vendor direct by phone and was told that they could not supply them at that price because FMF did not have sufficient inventory for them. Took a chance and contacted FMF direct and found out they had only one in stock that I coordinated to be shipped to the vendor for shipment to me at the ~$300 shipped price. I assume all other ebay buyers were refunded as the vendor initialy wanted to go that route with my purchase.
 
Well thanks for your input guys. We went back and forth a few emails (civily) I might add and he has agreed to send it to me for the 299 shipped. He did however request that once I recieve the exhaust that we can cancel the auction so that he can recoup his ebay fees. Does this sound legit or is he setting me up for some kind of buyer fraud? Sucks that it is hard to trust people these days.
 
Once, you get the pipe, It's hard to dupe you one that one, unless he comes a steals it off your bike.

If the dude gave in at $299, I would be happy once I got the pipe, to cancel the auction for that purpose.

I combed the details on ebay in mid 2008 when I had an issue with a shipping charge that went for the stars. In this case the buyer has all the rights - the seller is not allowed to change one yota in an auction once it's complete. That goes for shipping charges as well, which can be considerable sometimes. Not high on entertainment value, but it pays to give the ebay rules half an hour whether you're selling or buying.

If there's any moral issue, it is if you as a buyer *want* to push on. I gave my seller an extra 10$ for the pub. ..but 200? ..no.
