  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FMF exhaust update for 2010 TXC 250

Husqvarna
A Class
Hi all,

As some of you may know, I loaned my 2010 TXC 250 to FMF so they could develop an exhaust system for it. This was in late March...The R&D is complete and the systems were dyno'ed last week...FMF emailed me the dyno chart :D I will send an email to FMF and ask them if it is okay to post on this great site...Sorry, just want to make sure its good with them, dont want to make anybody mad posting info before they want it out, etc etc.

I can tell you that power is better down low and on top...The middle is about the same, no loss in power...The low end power is a really good improvement from stock, I think even better than the Akrapovic if I remember right...They told me a couple weeks for public sale (That was last week)...

This week, Dave Simon (SSB throttle body), will be going to FMF and doing what he needs to do, to get his throttle body stuff ready for the TXC (assuming TE also)...He told me it would a be 3 to 4 weeks after that for public sale...He is real busy with his TB's for other bikes and dealing with factory moto teams, bike makers from Europe, etc., I think its great that he will finally be able to get into So. Cal. this week so we can get these TB's for our Husky 250's.

Thats your FMF/SSB update for now...As soon as I get more info, pics, etc. CH will be the place for it...

here we go!! more options!! LeoVince, Akropovic, FMF, Jardine, Pro Circuit (soon i am sure) oh yea OEM Arrow

And now ther is all ready hot rod throttle body stuff****************************************

side note just read the MXA test of the Honda CRF injectioneering TB mod (another FI specialist firm) and they have it pegged as amazing. So a whole new industry is propping up with advent of offroad Moto FI, great stuff thanks for the report SDHusky.

PS for you SDHusky there is more new stuff from "the man" out east including a rather scary rock slab cliff jump off, suspension test spot....I think i sent u the foto.

Also FYI, to all you 250 super lite fans you will be amazed at the HP figures the factory is getting out of the little 250 with deeper engineering mods, its out of the 30s........so ther is alot of hidden power in the "underpowered Husky"

I guess it is because I ride the tighter trails i find the stock power pretty darn good. If I rode more open stuff i might be looking for more power. Great bike.

What did they use to tune the bike? Will they have numbers available if its CO settings?

40hp is like a 160hp liter bike.

which is why I am always amazed at all the hoopla with dirt bike HP ratings,,,,all the MX crowd goes nuts for a 35hp 250F,,its really not that impressive spec wise. And maybe most folks would turn better lap times on a less powerful machine with softer power. However it would be fun to blow the other companies out of the water from an oem stock hp standpoint. Imagine the mag news the big 4-5 are battling over the 34.7 and 34.9 horsepower 250 king and along comes the underpowered machine with an easy 5hp to 39 and room to grow with some hot rod mods.

WSBK 1000cc motors are pushing 230hp,,, check out F1 Hp per liter specs (through the roof) and moto GP 800cc at what 250-or more. so even low 40s is not that out of the world, but it does need to be usable of course. This all just for fun no real world meaning, all the race machines are fully worked anyway.

That sounds like good news for the TXC guys. We have been waiting on the FMF slip on for my son's 2010 TC 250 for over a month. The dealer called them yesterday for us to see when it will be released and they were told "no release date is set". So we just ordered the Leo.

Someone needs to design a teeny turbo for a 250f that runs a mellow 14psi. :D

Your absolutely right about being 'ridable'. I get into so many conversations about race bike's power and top speed; only to try to explain how that means very little in real world racing. At those upper HP regions, it's more about how the electronics can control the power. 180HP coming out of a corner will send you on your ass unless there's something to limit it (well, unless your last name is Hayes).

BMWs WSBK bike was at the top of the dyno charts on day one, but that team couldn't get it to hook up to save their life and never podiumed. As such, it took quite a few years to develop the electronics where someone could actually use the power the bike made.

I'm no expert in dirt riding, but I would imagine that too much power would create similar situations for dirt racers trying to get traction. Create a 55hp 200 lb bike, and something will need to limit the power when the wheel spins.

I'm working on a 510 right now; First thing I want for dirt riding is a lower power map and switch. But again, I suck at riding off road :o
