    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

flywheel weight for TE 310

i have just bought a te310 and am wondering if some flywheel weight could be added for some benefit in tight bush ridding
 
I'm wondering the same thing Kenny310. First ride yesterday on mine in tight single track, tree roots and logs. The lack of low down grunt and switch like throttle response make it real hard work.
 
I inquired about this last year for my 11 TE 250 and unanimously got a no. Seems nobody makes one for husky, something about the way the flywheel is designed that they will not work.

i have since spoken to husky guru in australia and he says that there is no room to fit any flywheel weight
my friend has a gas gas 515 and was able to fit flywheel weight to his bike that solved his similar problem that is why i asked the question
i have fitted the motorcross airbox boot that goes between airbox and throttle body for a small gain in low down grunt
next is a full aftermarket exhaust system that will give me more low down
then maybe some remapping to move power from up top to down low
also Iam now up to 1500km and the bike seems to be not as bad as when new
dont know if its because Iam getting more used to it or that the engine has loosened up but the switch like throttle response is not so bad
it has been hard for me coming from 25 years on three honda XRs to this race weapon but do definitely love the bike now am riding better than ever not much faster but with more ease and when i get more down low power i know it will be the best bike in our group

I bought a JD fuel injection tuner and I have it configured to give more torque. Don't really feel it has that much more overall power but it has definitely changed the characteristics to make it feel "tourquier". So it may be worth considering. Took me a while to tune it, don't have access to a dyno but the real world testing probably makes more practical sense when you think of what you want in the end.
 
Kenny310, Sorry about the late reply, been busy modifying and riding. I'm in the Otways actually. I've just fitted a G2 Ergonomics throttle tamer along with some funky Domino grips that were on the E2 website, the ones with the wing on the ends of the grip. The throttle tamer is real nice. Doesn't help the lack of torque, but does allow you to wind the throttle a little without worrying about it lighting up and throwing you off! Previously the only bike I've ridden was a DRZ-250, much like the XR, a big change.
Glangston, the idle is set at 1950rpm. I get what your saying but, if the clutch is fully engage below 3000 with load on the engine its 50/50 whether the flame goes out or not.
 
I would not put one more ounce on that flywheel....the woodruff key is barely capable of holding on with the stock flywheel.

hey sparky, the throttle tamer sounds like something that i would be interested in trying.where did you buy it .how much was it and what is involved in fitting???
 
What is the idle set at on your bike? Maybe try 2000-2200 if it is not already that high.
i dont know what my idle is set at but will check it tomorrow ,what will setting the idle at that speed do?and what is involved in changing the idle? can someone with little mechanical skills do it?
 
i have my idle set around 2100 - and never have any flame out issues..

this bike is snappy once you get into the power band, but i feel it's not all that strong on the bottom and i wouldn't want to take any of the snap away. to me, the only way this bike can be ridden in tight woods is with lots of clutch use, if you're trying to go fast at least. it gets the engine into the power band and smooths out the snap when you're slipping the clutch. Really applies the power efficiently that way. then when it opens up, look out, this thing comes alive when it gets to stretch its legs

it' an air bypass screw, decent sized Phillips by the throttle body. The lever on the 2012 controls it as well as that screw.

Others (older) like a 2008 have a button like a choke and that bypass screw.
 
I switched from stock 40t rear sprocket to 50t, really made a huge difference in tight trails, less clutch abuse.
