• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So yesterday I had the pleasure of getting my second flat tire in 10 years of riding

A screw punctured the tire (and I'm guessing there's a tube in there too). I called the dealer, they said they don't really patch tires (which is a bummer because it only had about 400 miles on it). They also said they usually put a 160 on the rear instead of a 150.

I don't really like the idea of putting a wider tire on because then I imagine there might be clearance issues with the chain etc not to mention won't handle as well as with the stock tire.

Have any of you switched to a 160? Was the difference noticeable?

I looked around online and am having trouble finding a 150 width tire.

I prefer the 150 on a narrow rim (sub 5"). Better profile but 160 will work. If yer running a tube change the tube and patch it from the inside. It it's tubeless you can plug/patch it from the inside with a patch that has a long plug thingy on the end you pull through the hole and snip off, the patch seals from the inside and the plug thingy plugs the hole. Had good luck with those on street tires, kinda messy but they work.

Most dealers wont patch a street tire due to liability issues.
Never try it on a sidewall. Chuck the hoop and buy a new one.

Flats on the road SUCK. Carry a tubeless plug type repair kit if yer tubeless it'll get ya home in most cases if ya go slow.

Get some Pilot Powers- they make a 150.

Yep new tube & you're good... If you want to patch tre tire it yourself, it not hard or expensive, but it's not realy necessary. Stick with the 150 if you like the bike to turn in a speed a little easier. 160 looks good. but the wider tire is harder to turn in. G/L

Man I love these tube things....Nice to pay $40 bucks to replace the tube instead of $200 to replace the tire!:D
