  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First ride video, 2014 TXC 310r

Sounds like your brakes have the same squeal as mine. Glad you are enjoying the bike:thumbsup: try a 12t CS next trail ride and you will be really smiling.

I am really a 2 stroke guy, I have bought and sold 4 or 5 4t's over the years because I amd faster on the 2t.
I think after riding them for 40+ years the transition is tough for me. Having said that, this one is sweet and is most 2t like than any others I have owned. So, to answer...I dont know, LOL. I am faster on the 2t, but I love some things about the 4t too.
I have vowed to give it at least a few months to get used to, and to adapt without jumping from bike to bike. Then I will post the answer.

This bike is on my "may" buy list so how does the weight feel when riding it compared to your WR? My 165 is going to my oldest grandson so I need a replacement soon and have been quoted awesome prices on these. Also what other 4-strokes can you compare it to if you don't mind? Thanks, John Oh and CONGRATS?

I have owned a 03 YZ250F, a 06 CRF450, 2 RMZ 450's..and have tried a few others. This TXC is by far the best handling
and lightest feeling of the bunch. The 165 is in a class of its own, though. Its a true featherweight. If I only rode tight, gnarly stuff the 165 would get the nod because you can pick it up or pull the front end out of anything with ease.
The 310 feels very light and flickable when riding, but would be harder to push and pull up a boney trail for sure.
The 310 is a front steer bike, the 165 is rear steer...both awsome. The 310 is better on off cambers, the 165 better flicking side to side and stops on a dime. The 310 is more stable, cg and gyro/ inertia and all that stuff, the 165 can slice and dice
around and change directions in an instant though. Of course the 310's power is easier to manage, broad and completley linear. Strange, I use way more clutch in tighter turns with 310-I dont seem to need to on the 165.
The comparison is not fair yet though, because the 165 has had a revalve and more set up time of course.
that was only the first day, stone stock on the 310...it will improve with set up and break in for sure.
I cant wait to ride it again. At the price you can get one of these, you cant lose.KYB, hydro clutch, e start, good FI..its a great motorcycle at a much lower cost
compared to competitive makes similar offerings.

Thank you so much for that comparo; much appreciated . I had an 07 Honda 450R, 06 RMZ450,09 TXC 510, and have ridden friends 07/8 YZF 250 and still have my WBCR165 and know exactly what you mean about it. I'm looking for a bike to do more open trails and a little MX fun. By MX fun I mean play at it because at 54 now bouncing my body off the ground kinda hurts when I wake up! Thanks agin.
