  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First Ride/Race on my TXC310

I picked up a 2013 TXC 310 6 weeks ago and it has been sitting in my basement. Finally got a chance to ride it yesterday. The hour meter read .1 when I lined up on row 40 for the Sandy Lane Enduro.
5 good friends on a row, It was a drag race to the first corner in deep wet sand. My 310 fell in second behind a CRF450. Perfect way to break in a bike.
I was pretty impressed with the engine, the corner to corner speed was great. No wheel spin.
Most off the ride was very tight ,
For a first ride on a bike with out touching anything I was equally impressed with the handling. I was a little slower than my normal pace and need to get the bike to enter a corner a little better, but all and all it was near perfect. In the fast stuff it was perfect. The last section was 30mph and we were moving, Stable as can be in the sand at top speed, Just missed the flip on the check out, best section of the day

All in all I think with a few practice rides, suspension sent out and it will be an awesome bike. looking forward to the year

A coupe more observations,

The fuel injection is spot on. The bike ran perfect all day, zero bog , hickup ect,

It is earlly in the riding year. No ride time before a race usually means a tough tuesday, wendsday after, Usally I am pretty sore. Well I dont feel that way this week. Tells me that the bike is pretty easy to ride, easy on the body and should let me ride harder longer.

Ed,

Do you know how long your race was and how much fuel you consumed?

I might switch to the TC tank, after a fews runs.

Ed,

I raced 55 miles of "singletrack" in 2hours 13min a week ago - with a fair amount of 6th gear pinned deep uphill sand wash thrown in. Going to check today but think I have about 1/2 gal left. I know each race can be different so I estimate 25 - 30 race mpg on my 2012 TXC.

I can not remeber if I toped the tank off before or after I filled my filled my 5 gallon jug. But I think it should be close , when I did top it off before the race it did not need much.

I just filled my tank now and have 2.5 gallons left in my jug based on weight. I raced 72 miles and burned 2.5 gallons. 28.8 mpg
Great millage for sure.
