    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi everyone. I just bought a 2004 te 450 with 50 miles! She is new with so many add ons. Really pleased with the bike but had a bit of a scare tonight.

Fluid dripping from where the titanium pipes meet the titanium Leo Vince can. Thought it was coolant but pretty sure it's condensation. It's cold here in vt and I have been doing short start ups in the garage. Have you seen water drip like this before? After a two minute run I might get a drip or two.


I have tried to compare the drips to the coolant which is a waterless Evans coolant. I am now pretty sure it's only water. Any advice or info about exhaust condensation would be great.

If you do not run the engine long enough to get it hot enough to boil off the moisture that gets into the engine from the air, it's better to not start it at all. By running it for short durations, you are filling the insides with water (humidity).
 
I am in NH (similar weather) and have been doing short trips to the Gym (less than a mile away) or to run errands and I haven't noticed any thing like your talking about. The exhaust heats up pretty quick so I would recommend feeling the exhaust and seeing how hot it is when you stop riding. Try letting it idol and heat up when your done your short trips and see if it goes away. Another word of caution be careful short trips in cold weather will case the oil to emulsify. Check and change your oil frequently if your going to be using it for short tips like that! My brother had the oil in his Ducati Hypermotard emulsify after surprisingly few miles and pretty much needed an entire rebuild.

Thanks everyone. Could it be my fancy exhaust? The Leo Vince has a drain system at the back side of the can.
 
2004 is 8 years, check your oil-maybe change it and look for colour ie milky it could be water ingress from old seals that said it is unlikely as the motor has not detonated.
 
I have the same bike and have never noticed the drip at low altitude(i.e the desert) but whenI ride the bike about 5k feet i notice a little drip that goes away pretty quick after the bike warms up. Sounds like its just condensation and nothing to really worry about. Has the coolant level in the bike changes at all? Have you tried to drain the exhaust to see if anything comes out?
