  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First Oil change on '09 TE250. No washer on drain bolt?

AndrewS

AA Class
I knew to look for it when I removed the bolt to avoid having to fish for it in the oil pan. It wasn't on the bolt, and it wasn't stuck to the bottom of the casing. It just wasn't there. I did, of course, fish through the oil pan a couple of times to make sure.

Is it a common washer that I can pick up? If so, does anyone have the specs on it?

Also, is there a trick to getting the spring to stay put when putting the filter cover back on? I finally managed it by slopping oil on the filter, and getting it to stick briefly, but it was a PITA.

Thanks!

I think the drain bolt is M16, so just get a washer (maybe copper if you can) that fits.

Some people use a little bit of grease to stick the spring on, just a spot. I don't seem to need it as just that little bit of oil works.

I would give ScottyR a call @ Rocher Sale just a little North of you.
He could purolator you one overnite. As far as the spring goes put your filter in put your cover on your filter tilt your cover and drop in the spring.
You can then move the cover around a bit and feel if you have the spring centered.

Thanks to both of you for your (quick!) responses. I bought my bike from Scott, and was going to order some other stuff from him, so it appears there's no time like the present! :)

Thanks again!

If you find changing the oil 'awkward' (I do), you may want to check out the 7602 forum, he has a nifty solution. :)

You can CHANGE the oil? j/k :D

My TXC didn't have the washer - a M16 copper washer from True Value fit just fine. But - after the first few oil changes I quit using the drain plug all together and just drain the oil out of the left side screen holes. You can reach in to the magnet to check for debris and sharks. I was dead certain that I was gonna strip the drain plug sooner or later - most likely sooner.

The 7602 filter screen bolts are nice.

The washer is a 16mm ID standard washer. I can send you one for the price of a postage stamp if you haven't already replaced it.

Exactly why we came up with this. http://7602racing.com/prod_ofc.php

Thanks for the offer! I received mine, along with some other parts, from Scott this morning.

Scott is good people. He does an excellent job of representing and supporting Husky's.

Agreed! If he wasn't a couple hours away, I'd swear he delivered my stuff himself. It got here less than a day after I ordered it.
