• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

This was my first Major DS Ride on the TE449. It performed great! No issues, other than dropping it and putting the Brake Pedal thru the Clutch cover on Day 1. Fahrenheit Epoxy and JB Weld held the oil in for the remaining 6 days of the trip

Tell me about the pipe wrapping is it really needed. Love to get your thought on the trials tyre. what brand, what pressure, how does it hold up and does it roll around on the rim in corners at speed.
Great shots by the way. Looks like a cool bunch of Hombres

Nice reporting and cool chart ...

Is the moving time row the total time in saddle for each day?

Ray_Ray, Yes, that is time in the Saddle or on the Pegs each day. With Lunch Stops, Photo Opportunities, Gas etc we were out 8-10 Hours a days.

ghte, the pipe wrapping keeps the pipe from melting my pants. Pirie Performance makes a cool carbon fiber guard but its $130.00 vs. Titanium Pipe wrap $15.00

I have been running Trials tires for about 6 years, full time, all the time, all terrain. The Pirelli MT43 has been my favorite. The side wall is a little stiffer than the others. The trials guys I talk to don't like it because of the stiffness, seems to be perfect for DS. I am getting at least 2k miles or more out of them. Michelin was the worst, knobs started to peeling. Sidewalls were too soft.

Depending where I am riding I run 6 to 10 psi for Air pressure. I recommend Bridgestone Ultra Heavy Duty Tubes.

Never had any "roll around the rim issues". The biggest thing to get used to is, if your riding style is to "back it in" on the corners, in otherwords slide the rear tire into the corner, you will have to adjust, the trials tire is a little more difficult to do this with. One of the other guys on the colorado ride, used a tire knife and cut the corners off the outside knobbies and he said that made it easier to back it in.

another group of guys were running Trials up front, I have one on order to try. Let you know.

Thanks for the info tshea. Been umming and ahing for ages on trails tyres. Love to hear your report on the front trial as well.
