• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Finally got to ride a '17 TE150!

So we've now got two '18 300's and my '18 150 in our riding group. They are each amazing and, while those might be the "popular" choices, I'm thinking you have done well choosing the 250. It's the most under-rated and over-looked bike in their lineup. The 150 is fun for obvious reasons, and the 300 is the torque monster, but I'm gonna bet that the 250 runs EVEN SMOOTHER than the 150 based on how much the counter-balancer helps the 300, and even though the 250 and 300 are essentially the same size and weight, the 250 always feels more maneuverable. The reports will be interesting to hear...

All this talk about having both has me really wanting to get one of these 150s. I’ve got the 300 but i think a small bore would be fun. Haven’t been on one since I was maybe 15 or so. A light weight machine for some serious single track sounds like a blast.

It IS a blast! I'm a long-time big bore rider, and a few year back got a 200 on a whim. It was amazing! So I've kept a small-bore in the shop ever since. I still like a good big-bore romp now and then, but for our usual tight woods, and even for the more open/flowing single track, the 150 is just "outta this world." And I'm getting 42mpg at a good play pace!

Better stop thinking that way or it'll cost you. We could get together and arrange a test ride. Bought a Freeride for my wife 2 years ago. I loved that thing so much I couldn't get off of it. So i thought why wouldn't a 150 with much better suspension and over twice the hp with just a few pounds more weight not be a blast? It is. I stepped out of the 125cc class in '84 so I had a few thoughts that it wouldn't have enough power at this elevation. Not a problem. It's more fun than the old days. The heavy 570 Beast is for sale.

Definitely wouldn’t mind riding up in Tahoe but none of my bikes are stickered for Cali or Nevada. Considering my son is suppose to be born this month I won’t be buying me a new bike any time soon haha. On the plus side there are those cool new mini huskies haha I’ll be buying a husky just not a 150 for me. Maybe it’s a good thing haha

What problems did you have with the machining? Just wondering what you were seeing.

Hi Wally,

In no way am I being disrespectful to his machining abilities as the head was machined to the correct dimensions and fit. What I’m referring to is all the sharp edges on the part and the o-ring groove was poorly machined. Now I can understand that the 150 head is not a big production run and programming takes a lot of time as I’m sure they have a lot of other parts to run through their shop, but attention to the small details of a part goes along way. If the scallop cuts is his desired affect he’s looking for milling the heads then maybe use a .005 to .01 rad bullnose endmill for the final pass or just turn smooth on a cnc lathe. Again, I apologize if I sound too critical.

No issues with your observations at all. It is what it is. I was just wondering what you were seeing. My insert was his first 150 head insert, so I imagine it got his total attention as he was working on building this insert for future production.

My RK insert arrived and I had a flawless one set up for sea level and installed after work yesterday along with a V Force 4 and did a quick spin around the yard and I’m very happy with the bike. 17 TE 150 with stock 18 jetting and no air box mods.

I sure love my zip Ty racing 125. Rode it back to back against my 30 . Both have there pluses we will see this weekend at the final round of the national where 125 will run in the open class
