  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm sure it would have saved my fuel pump if I had one.

if you cant find one of these we used to use a section of womens panty hose or stocking from the local l supermarket or you could ask someone nicely and they might give theirs up

ive thought about doing the pantyhose thing on my trucks aftermarket filter..thing gets loaded with bugs and all kinds of other crap.

its the way to go keeps your filter nice and clean a new and you can change it all the time doesnt cost heaps, hey you can even wear them under your riding gear stops the wet and cold a bit

Just to be clear...this is a fuel filter insert for the fuel tank not for the air filter. That's what I was asking about.

air that we beathe filter , clean O2 and C, mixed together, have you ever stopped to think that bike riders intake of air is ram charged unlike our poor cousins that have to walk around. is that what makes us go faster and everything seems in slow motion , until you hit the deck.

did you end up getting one? im sure it would help. if its soemthing that sets in the tank in might be a pain to check you fuel level at times i dunno.

No I haven't really even started to research other than on here...I guess I was just waiting to see if anyone had them fit onto an OEM Husky tank or IMS tank. I'll start e-mailing this weekend.

Does anybody know if the profill type of sock filter or similar is available for the 449/511 models.
A mate just purchased a new KTM 500 exc and is having problems with the EFI already.
His dealer put him onto a profill filter sock to hopefully rectify the problem.
I have had no problems with my 449 , but after the problems my mate has had with his KTM was thinking a tank filter sock might be a good investment.

ahh... I finally clicked on the original link....

I have actually thought about making something like this- I think its a great IDEA - even to through in a pack durring refills but if you can get one for the inlet that stays there and doesn't creat a seal problem that would be great.. Preventative if it filters better than the sock filter already on the system. I will take some measurements and will email them when I have time-

Have been running premium pumpgas for premix through a very fine metal filter to mix up each batch for the last couple years. Astounding amount of debris in pumpgas- never fail to get stuff on the screen that would otherwise need to be filtered by the petcock filter- which looks pretty fine to me and should work but is the last line of defence for the carb.,- i'm much happier not putting unknown dirt in the tank. Probably plenty of abrasive crap dissolved in the fuel anyway

Just remembered....

I emailed slipstream and they said that they do NOT have any models that fit the huskys-

nothing says you couldn't buy one and put it in a bag and put in your pack... cept the Molitov-Y-Ness of it.

I emailed profill here in oz, they don't make anything for the 449/511 at all.
They recommended a universal filter that they do and carry it like mentioned above.
IMO that would be a pain in the arse.
The Husky injectors do not seem to be as sensitive as the new KTM setup.
I want to avoid a clogged injector after seeing the problems that my mate has had with his new pumpkin.
Back to the drawing board

My EFI system has been flawless, after I replaced the varnished up OEM pump.
I just checked and replaced my fuel pump filter, I didn't bother with the metal fuel filter, I figure its still fine, 6,000 miles, 2010 TE450
